We are looking for an experienced wetland coordinator/environmental consultant for a long-term consulting assignment within water management, wetland design, and local collaboration. The assignment suits you if you are self-motivated, accustomed to driving wetland projects from idea to implementation, and confident in your dialogue with landowners, farmers, municipalities, and authorities.
Assignment duration: January 2026 to October 31, 2027, with the possibility of extension up to 6 months. The scope is assessed as a recurring part-time assignment, preliminarily around 40–60%, with variations over time depending on the project's needs.
About the assignment
You will work with coordinating and driving wetland projects in Västra Götaland, with a special focus on Götene and Skara and the surrounding area. The work includes both strategic coordination and practical implementation support.
You are expected to work with, among other things:
- Design of wetlands from idea/pre-study to application, implementation, and follow-up.
- Contact and dialogue with landowners, farmers, and local actors.
- Support with grant applications, e.g., LOVA, LONA, or similar.
- Support with notifications, permits, dispensations, and authority contacts related to water activities.
- Collaboration with municipalities, authorities, associations, and other stakeholders.
- Planning and implementation of meetings, workshops, and information campaigns.
- Identification of new potential wetland locations and interested landowners.
- Ongoing reporting, documentation, and time reporting.
Workplace and scope
The assignment requires local presence for site visits, landowner dialogues, and meetings. Therefore, it is not a purely remote assignment.
- Location: Västra Götaland, primarily Götene and Skara and the surrounding area.
- Work style: Hybrid, with regular site visits.
- Start: January 2026.
- End: October 31, 2027.
- Option: Possible extension up to 6 months.
- Scope: Consulting assignment during the project period, ongoing work according to agreed planning.
- Travel: Occurs within the assignment area.
- Vehicle: Own vehicle is required for site visits and landowner contacts. Let’s Gig covers mileage allowance according to agreement.
Requirements
To be considered, you must meet the following requirements:
- Relevant higher education or university degree in biology, limnology, ecology, environmental science, land/water, nature conservation, or equivalent experience.
- At least 3 years of documented practical experience in water management, wetland design, or similar measure coordination.
- Documented experience of contact with landowners and/or farmers in similar assignments.
- Experience with at least one grant process, e.g., LOVA, LONA, LIFE, or similar.
- Experience with authority contacts related to permits, dispensations, or notifications for water activities.
- Basic knowledge of water legislation and permit/dispensation processes.
- Ability to drive wetland design from idea/pre-study to application, construction, and follow-up.
- Very good Swedish in speech and writing.
- Category B driver's license.
- Access to own vehicle.
Value-added requirements
It is highly meritorious if you have:
- More than one completed wetland design from pre-study to construction.
- 4 or more completed wetland projects.
- 7 or more completed wetland projects.
- More than 5 years of experience in water management, wetland design, or measure coordination.
- Documented local knowledge from the catchment areas of Lidan, Nosan, Mariedalsån, Sjöråån, or Öredalsån.
- Previous wetland design in Götene, Skara, or neighboring municipalities.
- Strong experience in independent landowner dialogue and anchoring work.
- Experience collaborating with municipalities, County Administrative Board, LRF, Greppa Näringen, associations, or similar actors.
- Experience planning and holding workshops, information meetings, or local water management activities.
- Good ability to work independently, structurally, and solution-oriented.

You are confident in both the technical and communicative aspects. You can talk to landowners in a concrete and trust-building manner, while mastering authority processes, documentation, and design.
You need to be self-motivated, practical, and accustomed to taking responsibility for progress. The role is not for you if you only want to work theoretically or remotely. It suits you if you enjoy being on-site, building relationships, and getting real measures implemented.
