The Swedish National Board of Institutional Care (SiS) is an agency responsible for providing individually adapted compulsory care for young people with complex psychosocial issues and for adults with substance abuse problems. SiS also implements closed youth care. This takes place in youth homes and homes for adults with substance abuse issues, across the country. SiS Youth Home Tysslinge, located outside Södertälje, receives non-compulsory school-age boys with psychosocial issues, criminality, and substance abuse.

About the Workplace

SiS Youth Home Tysslinge is a high-security institution receiving young people at high risk of threats, violence, and absconding. The institution has a total of seven wards receiving young people placed under the Care of Young Persons Act (LVU), young people sentenced under the Act on Closed Youth Care (LSU), and one ward for young people who are cared for in isolation for a period (VIE). The majority of our young people are often in legal proceedings or already convicted of serious crimes and have connections to criminal networks.

School is an important and central part of the young people's care and treatment, serving as a key protective factor. The school operates under the Education Act and provides individually adapted schooling within the framework of introduction programs.

Job Description

As one of our teachers is going on study leave, we are looking for a teacher for a longer-term interim position. We are seeking someone with subject qualification in mathematics and preferably one additional STEM subject.

SiS is responsible for the education of all enrolled young people, regardless of their issues or placement form. All young people residing at the youth home are entitled to receive the education they need and have a right to. At Tysslingeskolan, we offer teaching at the compulsory school and upper secondary school levels within the framework of language introduction and individual alternatives. We work with a special pedagogical approach and continuously engage in further training.

Tysslingeskolan currently consists of thirteen teachers, one special needs teacher, a study and career counselor with administrative responsibilities, and a principal. The school is constantly developing and is highly prioritized within SiS.

As a teacher with us, you teach in small groups with adaptations based on each student's needs. We have our LVU students for shorter periods and our LSU students for longer periods. It is important to have a positive approach and belief in each individual's developmental potential. As a teacher with us, you should motivate every student to become eligible in their subjects or courses. You collaborate with us at the school and with other professional groups at Tysslinge regarding the student. You document your teaching to facilitate the student's future schooling. You participate in collegial learning, supervision, and the development of our school. When needed, you substitute for your colleagues.

At Tysslingeskolan, we apply holiday service (vacation coverage), and the main work takes place on-site.

Qualifications

You who apply must:

• Be a certified teacher in your subjects at the upper secondary level, in mathematics and preferably one or more additional STEM subjects.

It is an advantage if you have:

• Several years of experience as a certified teacher in your subjects.
• Multiple subjects in your qualification.
• Experience working within introduction programs.
• Experience working with young people in vulnerable situations.
• Experience working with students in need of special support/special teaching groups.

As a person, we see that you are a good and secure role model for our young people. You have good collaboration skills and are clear in your communication. In your work, you demonstrate good ability to document and to express yourself well orally and in writing. You show good flexibility, are stable, and can maintain calm even in stressful situations.

• Number of positions: 1
• The position is a full-time interim contract until June 2027.
• Start date: According to agreement, preferably as soon as possible.
• Office hours, flexible working hours agreement applies.
• Holiday service applies during employment. The main work takes place on-site.
