Unit for Economic Policy and Distribution

The Unit for Economic Policy and Distribution is responsible, among other things, for analyzing overall economic policy, providing advice on the design of fiscal policy, and assessing and analyzing the effects of reforms on employment, growth, and income distribution. The unit also monitors and analyzes the development of households' disposable income, as well as methods and models for distribution analysis. Furthermore, the unit is responsible for the Long-Term Study and for coordinating and working on OECD matters within the Ministry, participating in international tasks. The unit operates in a dynamic and often changing context where assignments, priorities, and requirements can shift quickly. The unit currently consists of approximately 18 employees.

As Deputy Unit Head, you will assist the Unit Head in leading, planning, and monitoring the unit's operations and employees, with the goal of ensuring that the unit is an effective and competent instrument for the Government in its mission to steer the country and realize its policies. Your duties include distributing tasks, coordinating processes, guiding employees, ensuring quality of materials, and monitoring and developing the organization, work methods, and work environment. The work also includes casework tasks, the content of which may vary depending on needs. Furthermore, you will represent the Ministry of Finance and Sweden in various contexts and substitute for the Unit Head when necessary.

Your background.

We are looking for you who have an academic degree, preferably in economics. You also have several years of current experience in relevant qualified economic-political analysis work. Furthermore, you have current experience in supervisory roles, such as deputy manager or project manager.

Experience in the role of business representative is meritorious. Experience from working in the Government Offices (Regeringskansliet) and a good understanding of what it means to work in a politically governed organization is also meritorious. Furthermore, current knowledge of the unit's area of responsibility is meritorious.

You collaborate well, find it easy to build trusting relationships both internally and externally, and have the ability to contribute to a good work environment. You have good judgment and strategic ability to make well-balanced assessments even in complex issues. You have a high degree of personal maturity, act steadily and professionally in different situations. You are a skilled communicator, expressing yourself very well in speech and writing in both Swedish and English.

Great importance will be attached to personal suitability.

The position is a permanent employment that begins with a six-month probationary period.

The position is classified in a security class, and a security investigation with register control will be conducted before a decision on employment is made. You must be a Swedish citizen, but may have a foreign background. The position is located in Stockholm.
