Counselor for Flemingsberg Children's Habilitation Center

About Us

Flemingsberg Children's Habilitation Center is an outpatient specialist clinic offering interventions for children aged 0–17 with persistent disabilities, such as intellectual disabilities, motor impairments, and autism.

The work is carried out in a cross-professional team together with counselors, speech therapists, psychologists, physiotherapists/physiotherapists, special educators, and occupational therapists. Here, you will have the opportunity for broad professional development with tasks where there is rarely a single "right" answer. Our clinic is located near Flemingsberg Center, opposite Huddinge Hospital.

About the Position

As a counselor within habilitation services, you will have an independent, varied, and stimulating job. You will work with patients across a wide variety of diagnoses and disabilities, for example, cerebral palsy, muscle diseases, chromosomal abnormalities, autism spectrum disorder, and intellectual disability.

You will create care and action plans in consultation with the patient and their network to ensure a shared understanding of interventions and participation. This involves providing supportive and guiding conversations to parents, assessing the needs of children and families, collaborating with networks, offering information about societal support, and conducting psychoeducation. Interventions are provided both individually and in group or workshop formats. Leading lectures and participating in network meetings, such as SIP meetings, are part of the role.

Interventions are planned based on an assessment of the individual's situation and the network's prerequisites, and are carried out in close cooperation with other team members.

About You

We are looking for you with a degree in social work or an equivalent education, along with experience as a counselor. We prefer that you have experience working with children with disabilities, their networks, and societal support. Knowledge of intellectual disability and autism spectrum conditions is a merit.

At our center, you need the ability to collaborate and be driven by collegial learning, as you work closely with other professional categories on your unit. You thrive in cross-professional teams where you contribute your professional expertise, as well as in independent work as a counselor. You have good skills in organizing and structuring your work, and you handle the demands of documentation and written communication with ease. The work is characterized by variation and requires flexibility and initiative with a patient focus. We expect you to work based on scientifically proven methods and clinical experience. It is important that you are secure in your professional role and comfortable meeting people in crisis and grief. Personal suitability is highly valued.
