Do you want to work on a project where advanced data analysis meets technical problem-solving within rail transport? We are now looking for a Technical Investigation Engineer who wants to play a key role in a comprehensive analysis project focused on identifying the causes of wheel flats on metro vehicles and developing future improvement measures.
In this role, you combine technical analysis, investigation work, and data-driven problem solving. You will collaborate with experienced specialists, analyze large amounts of data from various vehicle and maintenance systems, and lead technical sub-investigations that result in concrete recommendations.
About the assignmentYou will work through the entire investigation process, from current situation analysis and data collection to final report and improvement proposals.
The tasks include, among other things:
- Lead and conduct technical investigations related to wheel flat issues.
- Identify and analyze parameters that affect braking and wheel wear.
- Collect and analyze data from several different technical systems and databases.
- Evaluate vehicle data, software monitoring, and sensor data.
- Participate in vehicle tests and verify technical hypotheses.
- Identify areas for improvement within vehicles, maintenance, and operations.
- Develop processes for future data collection and analysis.
- Document results and write interim and final reports with recommended actions.
- A university degree in mechanical engineering, mechatronics, electrical engineering, vehicle engineering, or similar.
- Experience in technical data analysis and advanced troubleshooting.
- Ability to independently drive technical investigations from analysis to conclusion.
- Strong analytical skills and experience working systematically with large datasets.
- Experience in technical report writing and documentation.
- Very good Swedish and English skills, both written and spoken.
We would appreciate if you have experience in one or more of the following areas:
- Rail vehicles, trains, or metros.
- Brake systems or vehicle dynamics.
- TCMS, MVB, or other vehicle communication systems.
- Data analysis from maintenance systems or telemetry.
- Sensors, real-time monitoring, and log data.
- Maintenance systems such as Maximo or similar.
- Root cause analysis, FMEA, or other analysis methods.
- Analytical and curious.
- Structured and methodical.
- Self-motivated with strong personal drive.
- Communicative and accustomed to collaborating with different technical competencies.
- Solution-oriented and thrive on complex problem-solving.
