In the role of Cartography Engineer, you will become an important support function for the operations and work closely with operational staff, project managers, designers, contractors, and other internal and external partners to ensure that our pipeline information is correct, up-to-date, and of high quality.

With us, you will have a varied role where you combine GIS, cartography technology, and database management with close collaboration within the operations. You will become part of an engaged team and have the opportunity to contribute to the development of a socially vital operation. The position is located in the project department, where you will join a team of 13 colleagues consisting of project managers, construction managers, and administrators.

The Assignment

As a Cartography Engineer, you are responsible for managing, quality-assuring, and developing Norrtälje Vatten och Avfall's pipeline information in the VA-bank. You ensure that new and reconstructed pipelines, devices, and other infrastructure components are documented correctly so that the pipeline information is current, reliable, and accessible to the operation's users.

You work with as-built documentation from both contractors and internal projects, register and update information in the VA-bank, and contribute to the development of routines, templates, and working methods in the area. The role involves many contact points where you provide support to the operations regarding maps, GIS, pipeline information, and documentation.

Examples of tasks

• Receive, review, and handle as-built documentation from contractors and internal projects.
• Register and update information in the VA-bank.
• Ensure quality and perform corrections of pipeline network data.
• Manage and develop GIS and pipeline information.
• Archive and digitize new and older as-built drawings.
• Create map data for projects, operations, and maintenance activities.
• Prepare connection point maps, new construction maps, and other map products related to water and wastewater expansion.
• Handle pipeline inquiries via Ledningskollen and answer questions from customers, consultants, contractors, and internal operations.
• Participate in the development of routines, templates, and working methods for documentation and infrastructure data.

What you need to bring with you

We are looking for you who have:

• University or university college education in GIS, cartography and surveying technology, land surveying, geodata, or other relevant education, or equivalent experience.
• Basic knowledge of water and wastewater (VA).
• Experience working with map databases, GIS, or pipeline documentation.
• Good understanding of drawings and experience working with technical documentation.
• Good knowledge of GIS and CAD environments.
• Good computer skills.
• Good ability to express yourself in Swedish, both orally and in writing.
• Valid driver's license (Category B).
