Do you want to work heavily on programming with large datasets, develop new models, and make a real impact? Swedbank is currently making a major strategic investment and significantly upgrading their profitability management models. For this business-critical work, we are now looking for a Data Scientist who wants to help shape the frameworks of the future. You will be offered a steep learning curve in a supportive, open, and social team where your potential and curiosity are highly valued.
About the role
You will join a tight-knit and competent team consisting of four Data Scientists and the team lead, Elin. The team works technically and analytically using SAS, SQL, and Python, but they are far from the rigid analytics team you might imagine. They are an open, social, and quite extroverted group with a flat hierarchy, who support each other in daily work and enjoy doing fun things together.
As a person, you are collaborative, solution-oriented, and transparent. You contribute positively to the team atmosphere, communicate clearly with various stakeholders, and feel comfortable challenging assumptions when necessary. You thrive when working with complex issues, take ownership of your deliverables, and have a strong sense of quality.
What we offer
- A role with significant impact on the bank's future frameworks and methods. In the supportive team, you will have great opportunities to develop technically in Python and SQL while building a deep understanding of the banking business.
- A fixed-term position with Academic Work, with good opportunities for permanent hiring after 6-12 months. We also offer a fixed monthly salary.
Key responsibilities
- Use your analytical skills to handle complex challenges and make a difference in the business-critical area of risk-adjusted financial management.
- Contribute to the development of new models and methods for capital allocation and risk-adjusted profitability management within the Swedish corporate business.
- Work with large datasets to perform quantitative analyses and derive insights to improve model performance.
- Apply data-driven analysis to identify opportunities for increased capital efficiency and improvements in capital calculations.
We are looking for someone who
- Has an academic degree in mathematics, statistics, or industrial economics.
- Has good knowledge of SAS/SQL, R, or Python.
- Has a good ability to perform quantitative analysis and data modeling.
- Is comfortable working with large and complex datasets.
- Has fluent skills in Swedish and English, both spoken and written.
It is an advantage if you have
- Experience from analytical roles in credit risk, modeling (IRB/IFRS 9), ICAAP, stress testing, or capital management.
- Previous experience in financial mathematics or business management within banking.
To succeed in the role, you have the following personal qualities:
- Helpful
- Goal-oriented
- Social
