Join us in creating smarter, safer, and more sustainable outdoor lighting for the cities of the future.

Do you have a background as an electrician, electrical engineer, electronics technician, field service engineer, or technical support specialist – and are you driven by solving practical technical challenges? Do you want to combine customer-facing problem solving with modern technology in connected devices, wireless communication, and cloud-based systems?

At Capelon, we develop intelligent control and monitoring solutions for outdoor lighting that help municipalities, energy companies, and contractors operate their lighting infrastructure smarter, safer, and more efficiently.

We are now looking for a Technical Support Engineer to join our Customer Support team in Stockholm – a role for you who wants to make a technical difference close to the customer and contribute to ensuring our smart outdoor lighting systems function optimally in real-world environments.

About the role

As a Technical Support Engineer, you will be a central technical contact for customers, installers, and partners. You will support them throughout the entire system lifecycle – from installation and commissioning to troubleshooting, maintenance, training, and ongoing optimization.

You will handle support cases via phone, email, and case management systems, helping customers quickly resolve issues related to electrical installations, lighting controllers, wireless communication, cloud connectivity, and daily system operations.

This role is ideal for you who want to combine practical problem solving with technical breadth and customer-centric collaboration at the intersection of hardware, software, communication technology, and connected systems.

In addition to remote support, you will work practically with testing equipment, validating new products, commissioning systems, and recreating technical issues in our laboratory or workshop. As needed, you will also participate in customer visits, field troubleshooting, training sessions, and special technical projects.

Your responsibilities

  • Support customers with the installation, commissioning, configuration, and maintenance of smart outdoor lighting systems.
  • Troubleshoot issues related to luminaires, controllers, sensors, gateways, wireless communication, cloud connectivity, and system operation.
  • Analyze alarms, logs, and diagnostic data to identify root causes and recommend clear corrective actions.
  • Guide customers in using our cloud portal for monitoring, reporting, maintenance, and asset management.
  • Manage support cases in the case management system and drive them toward a quick and professional resolution.
  • Create and maintain installation guides, troubleshooting routines, and other technical documentation.
  • Conduct technical training for customers, distributors, installers, and internal colleagues.
  • Collaborate with development, product management, and sales to resolve complex issues and improve our solutions.
  • Participate in product testing, validation, pilot installations, and field activities as needed.

You are a curious and practical problem solver who thrives on helping customers succeed. You work in a structured manner, take ownership of technical questions, and can explain solutions clearly to both technical and non-technical users.

You may have experience from electrical installation, electronics, field service, engineering, or technical support. Most importantly, you combine practical technical understanding with a service mindset, curiosity, and a desire to develop within IoT, wireless communication, and cloud-connected systems.

Basic qualifications:

  • Technical education in electrical engineering, electronics, automation, telecommunications, mechatronics, or a related field; or equivalent relevant work experience.
  • At least 3 years of experience in technical support, field service, commissioning, installation, or a similar technical role.
  • Good understanding of electrical and electronic systems.
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical and wiring diagrams.
  • Experience working with computers, technical software, and digital support tools.
  • Fluent in Swedish and comfortable communicating in English, both verbally and in writing.
  • Valid driver’s license (Category B).

Qualifications that are a plus:

  • Vocational training or certification as an electrician.
  • Experience with smart outdoor lighting, street lighting, or lighting control systems.
  • Experience with IoT solutions, cloud platforms, or remote monitoring systems.
  • Knowledge of wireless communication technologies such as LoRaWAN, Zigbee, Bluetooth Mesh, NB-IoT, LTE-M, or similar.
  • Experience with lighting control standards such as DALI, D4i, or DMX.
  • Experience with networks, gateways, and IP-based communication.
  • Experience providing customer support in an international environment.

Travel: Approximately 30 days per year
