The Swedish Armed Forces' cyber defense is now seeking experienced System Administrators. We are looking for you who have a great interest and experience in system administration and who wish to develop further.

About the position

In this role, depending on your experience and drive, you will work with the design, installation, configuration, hardening, and monitoring of servers and clients. The goal is to ensure that everyone within the organization has a good and secure IT environment to work in. You will be offered qualified competence development over time.

Your main tasks:

Depending on your drive and aptitude, your tasks will include working together with other employees, for example:

• Install, configure, and monitor services and applications.
• Design new services and applications or update existing ones.
• Develop specifications for hardware required to run existing or planned services and applications.
• Participate in maintaining a functioning process for backup and recovery.

Qualifications

• Good knowledge of system administration for both Linux and Windows
• Good knowledge of programming and scripting (Python, Bash, PowerShell, etc.)
• Generally good knowledge of IT and network technology
• Academic education or knowledge acquired through relevant work experience
• Good ability to express yourself in speech and writing in Swedish and English

Meritorious

• Experience with Active Directory/Samba
• Experience with Public Key Infrastructure (PKI)
• Experience with automation
• Experience with Infrastructure as Code
• Experience with virtualization or container orchestration
• Certifications within Linux and Windows
• IT security-related certifications

Information about the recruiting unit:

The Chief of Defence and the Director General are located at the Headquarters. The Headquarters has approximately 1,000 employees – both professional officers and civilian experts. As of 2023-01-01, the Headquarters consists of the Defence Staff, the Operations Command, the Military Intelligence and Security Service, as well as the Headquarters Staff Department and independent oversight units.

Employment with us entails placement in a security class. Swedish citizenship is usually required. Security screening with register check will be conducted prior to employment according to Chapter 3 of the Security Protection Act. Employment entails an obligation to be war-placed. The employment also includes an obligation to serve abroad. The meaning of this varies depending on the type of position. A CV and cover letter must be attached to the application for employment.
