The Swedish Defence Research Agency (FOI) is looking for an IT Technician for Operations and Support
The Swedish Defence Research Agency (FOI) is responsible for monitoring, analysing, and evaluating activities within the total defence system from a systems perspective, as well as providing the government with qualified knowledge bases.
FOI falls under the Ministry of Defence and is located in central Stockholm. The agency was established in 2023 and has around 40 employees.
We are now hiring an IT Technician for operations and support.
Job Responsibilities
As an IT Technician for operations and support, you are responsible for the daily operation of the agency's IT infrastructure, technical support, and ensuring the availability, performance, and security of the systems. You have the ability to quickly familiarize yourself with complex environments and solve problems efficiently. Furthermore, you have a strong interest in technology, infrastructure, and networks, and you are accustomed to working independently on both support and improvement tasks. The role involves coordination, administration, and development.
Examples of responsibilities include:
- Planning and implementing system optimization, updates, and maintenance.
- Ongoing internal user support and contact with suppliers.
- Gathering requirements and, together with suppliers, implementing adaptations in existing systems.
- Ongoing monitoring of IT infrastructure, including networks, backups, servers, and storage.
- Documenting changes, improvements, and solutions in a structured manner, as well as handling inventory and lifecycle management.
- Creating user manuals and training materials.
- Incident management, including continuity planning, troubleshooting, escalation, and reporting.
- Certificate management.
The position is located within the Administrative Department. The department is responsible for support for the Director General and staff, finance, legal affairs, registry, HR, IT, premises management, communication, and office services. The department also coordinates the agency's work with business planning and follow-up.
You have
- A vocational degree or upper secondary school diploma.
- At least three years of experience in the operation and maintenance of IT infrastructure.
- Experience working with security updates and system configuration.
- Experience with IT systems with high security requirements.
- Good communication skills and ability to provide guidance in connection with user support.
- Ability to work independently and in a team.
It is meritorious if you have
- Vocational certificates in commonly used system solutions.

Other Information
The place of work is Stockholm. The position is a permanent employment starting with a six-month probationary period. The position is classified in a security clearance category, which requires Swedish citizenship. A successful security clearance with register check, conducted in accordance with the Security Protection Act, is required for employment. Start date by agreement.
