The Swedish Armed Forces Cyber Defence is now looking for an experienced Network Technician. We are looking for you who are curious about, or already passionate about, networks and IT security, and who wish to develop further.

About the position

In this role, you will work with the development, management, and configuration of all common network components – as well as some less common ones. Monitoring the external environment is a natural part of the work, and it is important that you stay updated on the latest technologies within network infrastructure. There are good opportunities for personal development.

Your main tasks:

• Responsible for networks in a security-classified IT environment
• Work broadly with network components such as switches, routers, and firewalls across both WAN and LAN, as well as in data centers
• Participate in the development and management of our IT environment
• Create new designs for solutions and implement them
• Perform ongoing operations, maintenance, and troubleshooting

Qualifications

• At least five years of experience in network operations, primarily with Cisco-based products
• Advanced knowledge and experience with switches, routers, and firewalls
• Experience with both physical and virtual network infrastructure
• Experience in installing and configuring networks and network components
• Good knowledge of Linux and Windows
• Academic education or knowledge acquired through relevant work experience
• Good ability to express yourself orally and in writing in Swedish and English

Meritorious

• Design of network infrastructure, physical and in virtualized environments
• Experience with automation
• Infrastructure as Code
• Configuration of encrypted connections
• Monitoring of network traffic
• Intrusion detection
• Programming and scripting (Python, Bash, PowerShell)
• Experience with and knowledge of the Swedish Armed Forces' communications security systems and IT systems

Information about the recruiting unit:

The Chief of Defence and the Director General are located at the Headquarters. The Headquarters has approximately 1,000 employees – both professional officers and civilian experts. From 2023-01-01, the Headquarters consists of the Defence Staff, the Operations Command, the Military Intelligence and Security Service, as well as the Headquarters Staff Department and independent oversight units.

An employment with us involves placement in a security classification. Swedish citizenship is usually required. Security clearance with background check will be conducted prior to employment according to Chapter 3 of the Security Protection Act. Employment entails an obligation to be war-placed.
