Attacks over the internet against computers and servers are occurring worldwide on an ever-increasing scale. The effects of a cyberattack can have consequences for society-critical functions as severe as a conventional armed attack.

The Swedish Armed Forces' cyber defense is now looking for a Drift and Support Technician. We are looking for you who have a great interest in technology and the ability to work with operational and user-support tasks in an organization where the majority of employees are advanced IT users.

About the position

As a Drift and Support Technician, you will support the operations with its IT needs and enable the cyber response to perform its tasks in the best possible way. In the role, you will need to be practical, solution-oriented, and hands-on in managing the digital workplace for your colleagues. Your work creates the prerequisites for the Swedish Armed Forces' cyber operations.

Your main tasks:

Depending on motivation and aptitude, your tasks will include, together with other colleagues, for example:

  • Helping colleagues with user support for existing systems, both internal and external
  • Installing and configuring hardware in both clients and servers
  • Maintaining and troubleshooting shared applications and services within the operations
  • Acting as a contact with external system owners during troubleshooting
  • Ensuring that hardware components and consumables are in stock
  • Carrying out change, incident, problem, inventory, and license management.

Qualifications

  • At least 3 years of experience in IT operations or user-facing IT support
  • Experience with Windows
  • Experience with Linux
  • Experience with common information technology in an office environment (switches, conference room equipment, printers, etc.)
  • Installation and setup of hardware
  • Experience with inventory management
  • Good language skills in Swedish and English, both spoken and written

Meritorious

  • Experience working with IT systems with high security requirements
  • Experience with case management systems
  • Experience with hardening of IT systems
  • Experience with and knowledge of the Swedish Armed Forces' IT systems
  • Experience with networks and firewalls
  • Experience working in a server room
  • Certifications in Windows, Linux, and IT security
  • Post-secondary education

Work in other locations, as well as on-call duties and shift work, may occur.

Travel in the service may occur both nationally and internationally.

The form of employment is a permanent position, starting with a six-month probationary period if you are not already employed within the Swedish Armed Forces.

The location for the position is Stockholm.

Start date is by agreement.

Information about the recruiting unit:

The Chief of Defence and the Director General are located at the Headquarters. The Headquarters has approximately 1,000 employees – both professional officers and civilian experts. From 2023-01-01, the Headquarters consists of the Defence Staff, the Operations Command, the Military Intelligence and Security Service, as well as the Headquarters' Staff Department and independent units for supervision.

An employment with us involves placement in a security classification. Swedish citizenship is usually required. Security screening with register check will be conducted prior to employment according to Chapter 3 of the Security Protection Act. Employment entails an obligation to be war-placed. The employment also includes an obligation to serve abroad. The meaning of this varies depending on the type of position. A CV and cover letter must be attached to the application for employment.
