The Department of Computer and Information Science is looking for an economist driven by analysis, innovation, and digital development. Here, you will have the opportunity to develop working methods and contribute to streamlining operational processes.

About the job

As an economist, you will be part of the department's economic function. This function serves as a service-oriented support and advisory unit, providing professional economic support to the department's management and heads.

You will play a key role in the department's budgeting and accounting work. The role also involves ensuring compliance with economic regulations and preparing economic documentation.

As an economist, you will drive ongoing economic work at the division level and ensure that core activities receive purposeful, professional, and operationally relevant support in economic matters. The role involves proactive work with analysis, follow-up, and advisory services, which serve as important foundations for operational management and decision-making. This includes presenting complex economic relationships in a pedagogical manner to operational representatives.

You will manage the economic administration of research projects at one or more divisions within the department. Duties include budgeting and forecasting, cost monitoring, reconciliations with project leaders, and economic reporting to funders, including both national and EU projects.

You will participate in developing and quality-assuring the department's economic processes, routines, and system support.

The role also involves representing the department vis-à-vis other departments, the university administration, and funders.

About you

The work requires a service-oriented approach where you independently drive, support, and advise relevant managers and researchers. You must therefore be responsible, service-oriented, and collaborative. You should have integrity and be a stable person with strong social competence. You must demonstrate good analytical skills.

We are looking for you who have a university degree in economics. Requirements for the position include experience with both budgeting and accounting, as well as other qualified accounting and follow-up work.

The job requires strong skills in retrieving relevant information from IT systems and then structuring, compiling, analyzing, and presenting it in a systematic and pedagogical manner. The work demands a strong drive to continuously develop, automate, and streamline work processes. You see opportunities for improvement, take initiative for new ways of working, and use digital tools to create more efficient and high-quality processes. High user competence in MS Excel is also required.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills in both Swedish and English are required for the position.

Experience with data analysis and visualization in Power BI or similar programs is meritorious.

The position is located at the Division for Operational Support, which is one of the department's six divisions and consists of approximately 30 employees. The division is tasked with providing professional support to core activities, management, and employees in areas such as finance, HR, registry, management support, undergraduate and graduate education administration, research administration, procurement, and facilities.
