Biomedical Analyst for Hemotherapy, Akademiska Hospital
We are Akademiska Hospital – one of Sweden's leading university hospitals. As a county hospital and provider of highly specialized care, we offer healthcare to two million people in Central Sweden. Something is always happening here – a new life is born, a grandmother undergoes surgery, a colleague is hailed as a hero. Here, you will experience both tough challenges and fantastic events, within a strong community of colleagues. We welcome your application!
Our Operations
Akademiska Laboratory is responsible for medical diagnostics, counseling, research, development, treatment, and education. Our customers are primarily located in Uppsala County and our Central Swedish region. In total, we have approximately 500 employees operating at Akademiska Hospital, the Hospital in Enköping, and in our blood donation trailer.
Hemotherapy is part of Akademiska Laboratory and the Section of Clinical Immunology and Transfusion Medicine.
The Hemotherapy Department is responsible for ensuring the blood supply in the region. We operate at Akademiska Hospital and via our blood bus and blood donation trailer at numerous locations both within and outside the region. At Hemotherapy, we also produce blood components and perform patient treatments using apheresis technology.
Your Role
As a Biomedical Analyst with us, you will join our cheerful team working with our blood donors! You will perform blood collections from donors at the blood center, in the blood donation trailer, and on the blood bus. You will also work with collecting donors using apheresis technology, specifically for our platelet and plasma donors. Later on, work in our component preparation area may also be included.
The tasks are performed in close collaboration with colleagues and involve significant contact with our blood donors. The training period is individually adapted, and authorization to work independently is granted gradually.
Working hours are scheduled on weekdays with evening shifts two evenings per week. In addition to work in Uppsala, the role includes shifts in our blood donation trailer and blood bus. Collection with the blood donation trailer takes place Monday to Thursday, and working hours vary, sometimes during the day, sometimes in the evening. Occasionally, there are overnight stays from Monday to Thursday as we travel longer distances to reach our donors. The employer covers hotel costs in other locations for these nights, Monday to Thursday. Working hours in the blood donation trailer are longer and therefore always include a day off on Friday of the same week.
Your Qualifications
We value collaboration and a good atmosphere within the work group, so we are looking for someone who enjoys working towards a common goal.
We are meticulous and have high quality standards as we are part of an accredited and licensed operation. This means we maintain high quality in our work and adhere to established routines and requirements. We therefore want you to appreciate this and work according to these standards. We enjoy improvements and like to work with development and quality-enhancing work, where you will be a key part.
We have great respect for our blood donors and our colleagues, so it is important that you are humble and respect others' privacy.
Communication is important among colleagues and with our blood donors, so it is important that you can express yourself well both verbally and in writing. Assessing blood donors involves a lot of text interpretation and conversation. Therefore, you need to be fully fluent in Swedish.
Personal suitability is given great weight.
We Offer
- Daytime hours, with two evening shifts per week. Off all weekends and public holidays.
- Trailer week every third or fourth week. This means longer shifts Monday to Thursday, resulting in a day off on Friday of the same week.
- In 50% of these trailer weeks, collections take place far away without the possibility of going home in between. The employer covers hotel costs in other locations for these nights, Monday to Thursday.
- You are offered a permanent full-time position.
- Start date: September 1, 2026, or later, by agreement.
- A B and C1 driver's license is meritorious.
