Our Operations

The Department of Geriatrics, Rehabilitation Medicine and Pain Centre consists of four sections: Health Professions, Pain Centre, Geriatrics, and Rehabilitation Medicine. All sections are characterized by well-functioning interprofessional collaboration, which we are very proud of. We want you to feel welcome here. Within the department, approximately 30 dietitians work within somatic care, both in inpatient and outpatient settings. You will be employed at the Health Professions department within surgery and cardiothoracic medicine, and your clinical placement will be within surgery.

Being a dietitian at Akademiska sjukhuset is an exciting job where you get to meet people in many different situations. You become part of a skilled team that supports and helps each other while you also work independently. You can expect a varied job with challenging tasks. The introduction will be adapted to your needs, and an individual competence plan is made annually with your direct manager. Knowledge development also takes place through network meetings and interprofessional meetings.

Your Role

You will primarily meet patients within the Department of Surgery and Urology, where you work in teams consisting of surgeons, advanced practice nurses, nurses, nursing assistants, pharmacists, and physiotherapists. As a dietitian in surgery, you have three dietitian colleagues that you work closely with. Coverage in other areas may be included in the position.

The main task is nutritional treatment in inpatient and outpatient care. The dietitian collaborates closely with other healthcare staff and participates in rounds several times a week. The work includes, among other things, counseling regarding parenteral nutrition, dietary advice before and after abdominal surgeries, and prescribing enteral nutrition. A large part of the patients you meet will be cancer patients.

Your Qualifications

We are looking for you who are a licensed dietitian. If you have experience with nutritional treatment within surgery, inpatient care, and enteral/parenteral nutrition, we consider it meritorious. However, even you who are new to the dietitian role are welcome to apply.

Great importance is placed on personal suitability. You should have a good ability to collaborate unconditionally with different professions, be flexible, have good organizational skills, good ability to express yourself in speech and writing, and an interest in development work. You should feel comfortable making independent decisions and prioritizing among tasks.
