We are looking for a Registered Nurse to the Orthopedics and Hand Surgery Department
We are Akademiska sjukhuset – one of Sweden's leading university hospitals. As a county hospital and provider of highly specialized care, we offer healthcare to two million people in Central Sweden. Something is always happening here – a new life is born, a grandmother undergoes surgery, a colleague is hailed as a hero. Here, you will experience both tough trials and fantastic events, in a strong community with colleagues. We welcome your application!
Our Operations
The Orthopedics and Hand Surgery Department at Akademiska sjukhuset provides highly specialized care and is divided into seven sections: trauma, spine, prosthesis, shoulder/knee, foot, hand, and children. The department consists of a ward with approximately 40 beds, as well as two clinics, an operating planning unit, and a research and quality unit. Outpatient care is provided at the orthopedic clinic for the sections trauma, spine, prosthesis, shoulder/knee, and foot. You will work in a team with nursing assistants, nurses, physiotherapists, doctors, and medical secretaries.
Your Role
As a nurse at the orthopedic clinic, you will work with standard clinic duties such as nurse-led consultations, telephone advice, and 1177 services, but you will also assist doctors during examinations and treatments.
In the nurse-led consultations, you have your own patients and work independently, but of course, you have support from doctors when needed. The tasks are varied and include, among other things, wound care, venous blood sampling, antibiotic treatment, and further planning for continued care. In telephone advice and 1177 services, you handle patient cases. These cases vary in nature and include everything from questions regarding orthopedic flows in connection with surgery or while waiting for an appointment, to pure counseling sessions regarding pain and pre- and post-operative care for non-admitted patients. Other common requests are prescription renewals and information regarding sick leave certificates.
Your Qualifications
You are a registered nurse with an interest in orthopedics, preferably with a couple of years of experience. If you additionally have experience in orthopedics or other surgical operations, or experience in clinic operations, this is also considered an advantage.
Your Competencies
We are looking for you who enjoy taking responsibility and driving your own processes forward. You work in a structured manner, remain calm even in change, and always keep the patient's best interest in focus. You collaborate well with others and are sensitive to both colleagues' and the department's needs. You are solution-oriented and drive your work in a constructive and forward-looking manner. In our operations, it is important that you can adapt to changed circumstances and quickly reprioritize when necessary.
What We Offer
We offer a permanent position. Working hours are Monday to Friday, daytime, and the position is for 100% employment. A probation period of 6 months may apply. Start date by agreement. Interviews will be held continuously throughout the process.
