We are looking for a Physiotherapist in Geriatrics, Rehabilitation Medicine and Pain Centre
We are Akademiska sjukhuset – one of Sweden's leading university hospitals. As a county hospital and provider of highly specialized care, we offer healthcare to two million people in Central Sweden. Something is always happening here – a new life is born, a grandmother undergoes surgery, a colleague is hailed as a hero. Here, you will experience both tough challenges and fantastic events, in a strong community with colleagues. We welcome your application!
Our Operations
We are seeking a physiotherapist for a fixed-term position in the Geriatrics, Rehabilitation Medicine and Pain Centre. Our operations are characterized by multidisciplinary teams and have a broad mandate, making it meaningful, exciting, and developing to work here.
Geriatrics is a section within the operations area, where we provide highly specialized geriatric care for the elderly patient group. Geriatrics consists of three inpatient wards and a memory and geriatric clinic. The memory and geriatric clinic is an outpatient geriatric clinic with three focuses (home and day rehabilitation, memory clinic, and research clinic). We now need to strengthen our team within home and day rehabilitation.
Your Role
Home and day rehabilitation is provided for geriatric patients, primarily people with stroke and Parkinson's disease, but also other elderly people with multiple illnesses. The work is based on close collaboration in the multidisciplinary team, where you as a physiotherapist play a central role in the rehabilitation process.
Home rehabilitation is provided after the patient's return from the hospital wards and is initiated via referral, usually from the stroke ward or the rehabilitation medicine and neurogeriatric ward. An initial assessment visit is performed together with another profession in the team, usually an occupational therapist or speech therapist. Thereafter, a time-limited rehabilitation period in the patient's home may become relevant.
Within day rehabilitation, the physiotherapist participates in 3–6-month team follow-ups after stroke, and is responsible for individual training and group training for patients with stroke. The physiotherapist also performs assessments and leads group training for patients with Parkinson's disease.
The physiotherapist's focus in both home and day rehabilitation is primarily the assessment and rehabilitation of balance, mobility, and gait ability, as well as promoting physical activity. The rehabilitation aims to improve functional, activity, and participation abilities, based on the patient's individual goals.
Your Qualifications
You are a licensed physiotherapist with an interest in physiotherapy work in operations with geriatric and neurological connections. Experience in neurology and/or geriatrics is meritorious, but even you as a recent graduate are welcome to apply.
A B driving license is required as travel to patients is done with the organization's vehicles.
Your Competence
Great importance is attached to personal suitability. You enjoy working in a team and have good collaboration and organizational skills. Since the work involves rehabilitation in the patient's home environment, you need to be flexible and able to make independent assessments. You put the patient's goals and needs at the center and are responsible and motivated in your work. As a colleague, you are engaged and positive and contribute to a good work environment.
We Offer
We offer a full-time fixed-term position until December 31, 2031, with a possible opportunity for extension. Start date in August.
As a physiotherapist with us, you are part of a professional network at the hospital and have opportunities for further development both internally and externally. Here you get benefits that make a difference, read about the benefits here (https://regionuppsala.se/formaner/ (https://regionuppsala.se/formaner/)).
