Do you want to work with economics that contribute to the development of the entire County of Örebro? We are now looking for a Public Sector Economist for the Economics Unit within Regional Development.

Here, you will have a varied and qualified assignment where you work close to the operations as a qualified advisor to managers, project leaders, and strategists on economic matters. You are responsible for accounting, budgeting, follow-up, and economic analyses, contributing to well-founded decisions and long-term sustainable economics.

You will become part of an economics unit that is undergoing development. Job Responsibilities

As a Public Sector Economist, you have a broad and independent assignment where you are responsible for the economy within one or several operational areas. You work close to the operations and serve as a qualified support to managers and project leaders throughout the entire economic process.

Examples of job responsibilities:

  • Responsible for ongoing accounting, annual accounts, and economic reconciliations.
  • Work with budgets, forecasts, and economic follow-up.
  • Produce economic analyses and decision support materials.
  • Provide support and advice to managers and project leaders on economic matters.
  • Work with accounting, follow-up, and requisitioning of externally funded projects.
  • Contribute to the work on economic basis materials for the administration's political processes.
  • Participate in the development of economic routines, processes, and working methods together with other economists.

The work involves many contact surfaces, and you collaborate with colleagues within the economics unit as well as with the operations' managers, project leaders, and strategists.

Qualifications

We are looking for you who have:

  • An academic degree in economics, such as a Master of Science in Engineering/Economics, or other education that the employer deems relevant.
  • Several years of experience in ongoing accounting as well as analysis and follow-up work.
  • Good experience in budgeting and annual accounts work.
  • Very good knowledge of Excel and good system proficiency.
  • Very good ability to express yourself in speech and writing in Swedish.

As a person, you are structured, analytical, and quality-conscious. You take responsibility for your work and have the ability to plan and prioritize even when the workload varies. You enjoy working independently while appreciating collaboration and are happy to share your knowledge.

You have a consultative approach and build trusting relationships. By listening, asking questions, and communicating clearly, you help the operations understand economic connections and make well-founded decisions. You are also development-oriented and see opportunities to improve working methods and processes.

We place great emphasis on personal qualities.

Merits

It is an advantage if you have:

  • Experience working in the public sector.
  • Experience working in regional development or societal development.
  • Experience working with external funding, such as EU funds or state grants.
  • Experience in following up on goals, indicators, and effects.
  • Knowledge of politically driven organizations.
  • Experience with economic systems and BI tools, such as Raindance, Hypergene, or Stratsys.
