Job Description
We believe in you and your abilities – therefore, we give you considerable freedom in your role. Many who work with us appreciate the trust and responsibility they receive in our municipality, as it contributes to significant learning and development in everyday life. To succeed, you must be confident in yourself and your profession, and have the ability to both take initiative and set boundaries.
Do you want to become part of our wonderful and engaged team of benefit caseworkers? For us, work joy, engagement, and respect are important. Together, we develop our operations and ourselves.
One of our employees is on parental leave for an extended period, which is why we are now looking for a colleague who wants to meet the municipality's elderly citizens together with us.
Working with us means you will meet our seniors in their daily lives, in their homes, sometimes in short-term care facilities, and within inpatient care. As a caseworker, you are responsible for ensuring that meetings with users and relatives maintain good quality, and that collaboration with both internal and external actors leads to progress. You will work individually on many cases but are part of a work group where dialogue and consultation with your closest colleagues and supervisors is a natural part of daily work.
In the role of benefit caseworker at the Elderly Care Unit, you are responsible for investigating and assessing needs in a legally secure manner and helping our seniors receive the benefits they are entitled to. The work is largely independent, but a colleague is never far away to provide support. We also hold regular whole-team meetings to discuss cases with a more complex nature.
You will hear many life stories and will be given the opportunity to help our seniors maintain and uphold reasonable living conditions in the best possible way.
At the unit, we work in a team-based manner and support each other based on operational needs. This means that as an area caseworker, you may also assist the care planners if required and if conditions permit.
As a new employee, you will receive an individually adapted introduction to get started in the best possible way. You will receive support and help from both the unit manager, coordinators, and experienced colleagues.
To facilitate the balance between work and leisure, there is an opportunity for flexible hours and remote work when the job allows.
Qualifications
To succeed in this role:
You have a degree in Social Work or another university-level education that we assess as equivalent. You should have good knowledge of laws and regulations within the operational area, as well as good skills in the Office package. Good knowledge of Swedish, both spoken and written.
Previous experience in administrative decision-making is meritorious, but for those new to the field, we are here to support you in your new professional role. We would like you to be knowledgeable about issues concerning elderly care. In Ekerö Municipality, we use Pulsen Combine as our operational system; experience with this system and Life Care as a system for discharge from inpatient care is meritorious.
A Category B driver's license is required.
We hope that you, specifically, want to work together with us and look forward to your application.
We will begin selection and interviews during the application period. Since the recruitment is taking place during the summer holiday period, processing times may be slightly longer than usual. We appreciate your understanding that feedback and contact may occur with some delay.
Start Date: September 2026, or as agreed.
Scope: Full-time
Employment Type: Fixed-term, substitute position until 2027-08-31.

About Ekerö Municipality
We are a multitude of different operations that together create a unique municipality – where we all help each other across unit and operational boundaries. We live our core values, which mean great engagement, good communication with open dialogue, and a professional approach. As a smaller municipality in the Stockholm region, we can offer both closeness to each other and an ambitious development journey. To become a leading municipality, we need to add new perspectives, and we hope you want to contribute yours.
Ekerö Municipality wants to be an attractive employer and strives for a clear focus on sustainability. Provided that the operation's ability to achieve its goals remains intact, the municipality has a positive attitude towards remote work when possible.
We offer, for example, wellness benefits, pension exchange, swapping holiday pay for days off, and smoke-free working hours. To ensure the quality of our recruitment process, we ask you to submit your application digitally, not via email or post.
We have already made decisions regarding recruitment channels and marketing and do not wish to have contact with media salespeople, recruitment sites, and similar.
