With us, you have the opportunity to make a real difference for people while developing alongside experienced and supportive colleagues. We are now looking for a Social Secretary for financial assistance in Nynäshamn.
As a Social Secretary, you work closely with people in transition and support them on their path to self-sufficiency. Together, we work towards a safe, sustainable, and inclusive Nynäshamn where every individual is given the opportunity to develop based on their own conditions.
Here, you will meet an open work climate characterized by close collaboration, high responsibility, and a strong focus on the individual's best interests. We are a small team where community, participation, and professional pride characterize daily life. Welcome to us!
Job Responsibilities
As a Social Secretary within financial assistance, you play a central role in supporting and guiding individuals towards self-sufficiency. The work is varied and involves both administrative decision-making and change-oriented work. You meet people in different life situations and work together with them to create sustainable paths to self-sufficiency.
Your tasks will include, among other things:
- investigate, assess, and make decisions regarding financial assistance according to the Social Services Act
- create and follow up on individual action plans together with the client
- collaborate with internal and external actors, such as the Swedish Social Insurance Agency, the Swedish Public Employment Service, and healthcare services
- work in a motivational and change-oriented manner with a focus on long-term independence
- use structured working methods and approaches, such as MI (Motivational Interviewing) and Instrument X.
About the Workplace
Since January 1, 2025, financial assistance and adult services have been combined into a joint unit within the Needs-Based Support Department. The financial assistance team consists of ten Social Secretaries, a group manager, and a unit manager.
We are a small team where both managers and colleagues are easily accessible. Here, we help each other, share knowledge, and believe in an open climate where asking for help and contributing to each other's development is second nature. We know that good collaboration creates better conditions, both for employees and for those we serve.
You will receive a structured introduction with a mentor, regular supervision, and continuous support from both managers and colleagues. We also offer excellent opportunities for professional development through training and experience sharing.
What We Are Looking For
To succeed in this role, you have:
- a degree in Social Work or another relevant academic degree that the employer deems equivalent
- experience in administrative decision-making within social work
- experience working with people in complex life situations
- experience working with collaborating actors, such as the Swedish Social Insurance Agency, the Swedish Public Employment Service, or healthcare
- experience working with financial assistance
- good knowledge of the Social Services Act and the social insurance system
- good proficiency in Swedish, both spoken and written.
It is an advantage if you have:
- experience with LifeCare
- training in MI (Motivational Interviewing)
- a valid driver's license (Category B).
We are looking for someone who is confident in their professional role, has a good manner of dealing with people, and enjoys collaboration. You work in a structured manner, make well-founded decisions, and have the ability to build trusting relationships. You see opportunities in change and want to contribute to the development of both the organization and the individual.
What We Offer You
- With us, you get meaningful work that combines administrative decision-making with active change work. You become part of a team where both managers and colleagues are close by, and your competence is valued. There is room to influence, develop, and make a real difference. We aim for a case load of approximately 35 cases per handler and offer external supervision as support in your daily work.
- Nynäshamn is a calm and safe municipality. Safety is also found in our teams – we are unpretentious, encouraging, and back each other up when needed.
- Nynäshamn Municipality is part of one of Sweden's strongest growth regions. Our journey offers you opportunities for challenges and varied tasks.
- We offer free access to the gym. You also receive a wellness hour or wellness allowance.
- You have the opportunity to exchange vacation days and pension benefits.
- We have an active staff association where you can rent cabins in the mountains and in the archipelago. You can also participate in various activities such as padel, kayaking, and horseback riding.
- We offer flexible hours and shorter working hours during the summer. There is also the possibility of remote work.
Our Recruitment Process
We apply continuous selection and use a competency-based recruitment method for a fair and objective assessment. Diversity is an asset, and we welcome all applicants. The position requires a certificate of good conduct (extract from the criminal record).
If you are ready to take the leap and become part of our fantastic team, do not hesitate to submit your application today! We look forward to hearing from you; perhaps you will become our new colleague in financial assistance.
Welcome to apply to Nynäshamn Municipality - together we make a difference!
