The Section for Health and Rehabilitation is responsible for education and research in occupational therapy, physiotherapy, speech and language pathology, and audiology. The section aims to conduct its operations with very high quality.

The Physiotherapy Unit is an active educational and research environment with the vision of continuing to develop the physiotherapy of the future. Both education and research take place in close collaboration with healthcare services. Education is offered at bachelor's, master's, and doctoral levels, and transprofessional research is conducted in collaboration with national and international partners.

Subject Description

Physiotherapy encompasses knowledge and studies of the human body in motion, and how movement, body awareness, habits, and lifestyle patterns affect health. The need for physiotherapy within municipal and regional primary care is a large and growing area, driven by demographic changes with an aging population and the "Good and Close Care" reform.

Job Responsibilities

The position involves working in an educational environment focused on student-centered learning. Duties include teaching and supervision at undergraduate, advanced, and doctoral levels within the subject, with a special emphasis on rehabilitation within municipal and regional primary care, where the applicant's professional experience should be applied in relevant teaching situations. Teaching responsibilities include course coordination, course administration, and supervision of students at all levels. Teaching is conducted in Swedish.

The work also includes conducting research and contributing to the development within the research field of physiotherapy, supervising doctoral students, and actively seeking external research funding.

Responsibilities include participating in the department's activities, including administrative tasks in committees, as well as following developments within the subject and relevant societal issues.

Qualifications

Qualifications for the teaching position are regulated by the Higher Education Ordinance and the University of Gothenburg's employment regulations.

You must hold a PhD in physiotherapy, or what the employer considers equivalent, and have demonstrated pedagogical competence. The applicant must be a licensed physiotherapist and have clinical experience in physiotherapeutic rehabilitation within municipal and/or regional primary care. Proficiency in teaching in Swedish is required.

Employment

Fixed-term contract (vacancy substitute) on a part-time basis (50%) located at the Department of Neuroscience and Physiology. Start date: Autumn semester 2026 or as agreed, until 2027-06-15 with the possibility of extension.
