About the OperationsBergslena Upper Secondary School, Adapted Upper Secondary School, offers national and individual programs. The adapted upper secondary school is a four-year upper secondary education program for students with intellectual disabilities. The school consists of various units located throughout Borås City. We are a small organization, and we work closely with those we serve.
On the Individual Program, students study six subject areas, and on the National Program, we offer six vocational programs. We work to ensure that students become employable within their chosen vocational direction or reach as far as possible in their knowledge development. The climate is characterized by a secure learning environment and a professional approach to the target group and their knowledge development.
Before and after school hours, Bergslena Upper Secondary School's units offer short-term supervision for students.
Job ResponsibilitiesAs a teacher on the Individual Program, you are responsible for planning, implementing, developing, and documenting teaching based on the subject area plans, such as language and communication, nature and environment, individual and society, sports and health, home economics and consumer knowledge, and aesthetic activities. You create an accessible and stimulating learning environment where every student has the opportunity to develop based on their individual prerequisites and needs. The role also includes actively working with digital tools to strengthen students' learning and participation, as well as promoting the importance of digitalization for the target group.
Your duties include, among other things:
- adapting teaching, methods, and the learning environment to students' individual needs and prerequisites
- planning, implementing, following up, and analyzing your own teaching as well as students' knowledge development
- collaborating with colleagues, student assistants, guardians, and other professions regarding students' development
We are looking for you who have a primary school teacher degree, preschool teacher degree, or other relevant teacher education. It is an advantage if you also have a special needs teacher degree with a focus on intellectual disabilities.
You have good knowledge of AAC (Augmentative and Alternative Communication) and experience of teaching in adapted school forms. Experience working with students with autism and other additional diagnoses is an advantage.
As a person, you are engaged, creative, and solution-focused. You easily build good relationships, take initiative, and can work both independently and collaboratively. You see opportunities in challenges and have a good understanding of how digital tools can contribute to students' learning, communication, and independence.
For this position, we see your ability to collaborate with teaching colleagues, student assistants, and other functions within the operations as an important competency.
A B-class driver's license is required as parts of the teaching and students' learning take place in different environments out in society.
