Do you want to make a real difference for young people? We are now expanding our operations and are looking for an additional specially qualified contact person who wants to work closely with young people and young adults aged 15–21 who are at risk of, or already involved in, criminal activity.

About the unit

The position belongs to the Family Department's treatment unit, "Familjehuset" (The Family House), which is part of the Employment and Social Administration in Karlstad Municipality. In addition to your closest colleague, approximately 25 family therapists work at the unit. You will be part of a team consisting of yourself, your colleague, and six family therapists focused on young people and their families. As support, you also have a case handler who assists with case processes and is responsible for routines and guidelines.

The unit is located in central Karlstad.

About the role

As a specially qualified contact person, you work closely with young people and young adults who are at risk of, or already involved in, criminal activity. The purpose of the role is to strengthen the young person's ability to make positive life choices and break negative patterns.

The work involves building a trusting relationship with the young person, acting as a support and positive role model to motivate them towards school or other activities, supporting prosocial leisure activities, and helping to break destructive life choices. Collaboration with social services, guardians, the police, and other important actors for the young person is a key part of the role.

The "specially qualified contact person" intervention is a needs-assessed measure decided upon and followed up by a social worker. The assignments can be initiated by both the Family Department and the Department for Integration, Support, and Work (Young Adults Unit).

The work takes place during daytime, evening hours, and as needed on weekends.

As a specially qualified contact person, you need to have a good ability to build relationships with young people, be empathetic, flexible, and committed to creating long-term change.

Qualifications

We are looking for you with relevant education, such as a degree in social work, behavioral science, or other education deemed equivalent, along with experience working with young people/young adults in crime-prone environments or in socially vulnerable situations.

In addition to competence and experience, special consideration will be given to complement the work group based on personal qualities.

A valid driver's license (Category B) is required.
