The Swedish Civil Contingencies Agency (MSB) is the leading, guiding, and coordinating authority in civil defense. We ensure that society is prepared for crises, heightened readiness, and war.

Do you want to help lead the work to prepare all of Sweden? Then you could be our next colleague.

The recent security political development and Sweden's role as an ally in NATO place the Swedish Civil Contingencies Agency in a historically important context. The development of Sweden's civil defense and crisis preparedness is moving forward at a high pace, with the Swedish Civil Contingencies Agency serving as the leading, guiding, and coordinating authority in civil defense.

The Division for Operational Planning and Management plays a key role in this development. Our operations are characterized by continuously developing working methods to meet the demands posed by the changing global landscape. The division includes an operational staff that creates the prerequisites for joint operational work within the preparedness structure and civil defense.

To be better prepared, it is central to plan how various risks and vulnerabilities affecting society should be managed. The C5 Planning Unit is responsible for national preparatory planning in prioritized areas in the event of peacetime crises, threat of war, and war. This includes planning and cooperation as support to the military defense. The unit is also responsible for the C5 function in the agency's operational command system. We are now looking for a Project Coordinator who wants to be part of our team.

Your responsibilities and tasks

As a Project Coordinator, you will support various prioritized planning tasks that the unit is responsible for, as well as support the unit management with both information management and coordination.

Your tasks will include participating in this work by, for example:

  • supporting project managers and equivalents for the unit's major assignments.
  • supporting unit management with information management and coordination.
  • documentation, administration, and reporting.
  • preparing background materials and presentations.
  • meeting coordination and logistics, minutes, and follow-up of decisions.
  • other administrative tasks as needed.

The tasks may develop to contribute to results in projects and assignments in other ways.

In your employment, you will have the opportunity to contribute to the change work taking place at the agency and within the division. Therefore, it is important that you thrive in an environment where working methods and products are continuously developed.

Your knowledge and competencies

We are looking for you who have:

  • an academic degree that the employer considers relevant,
  • experience working at a government agency or other public administration,
  • experience in administrative work, for example as a project administrator, coordinator, or similar,
  • knowledge of the goals and directions for total defense and Swedish crisis preparedness,
  • good ability to express yourself in speech and writing in Swedish and English.

It is an advantage if you have:

  • experience with EU or NATO work,
  • experience with security clearance procedures,
  • experience working in projects or similar with delivery requirements against set deadlines,
  • experience in developing new routines.

In all our work, both internally and externally, we must act based on the government's values. As all employees and leaders here, you are expected to act according to the agency's approach.

The approach applies in everyday life, crisis, and war. They should be seen as a whole and build on each other; collaborative – proactive – action-oriented.

Read more about our approach.

As a Project Coordinator with us, you need to have good analytical skills and be able to draw conclusions from complex materials in important matters. You need to have an interest in driving issues in the development of civil defense, and a willingness to learn. You also need to be unpretentious in your work.

About the employment

We offer you a fixed-term employment until May 31, 2027, with the possibility of extension.

Your place of work will be Stockholm, and travel during employment will occur.

On-call duty may be included in the position and may involve working outside normal office hours.

The majority of our positions involve placement in a security class. Swedish citizenship is usually required. In the case of placement in a security class, a security investigation with register check will be conducted before employment according to Chapter 3 of the Security Protection Act. Most employees at the Swedish Civil Contingencies Agency are war-placed.
