Within the Child and Education Administration, our approximately 3,000 employees meet with around 14,000 children and students at more than 100 preschools and schools across the municipality every day. Every child and student in Sundsvall's preschools and schools should be able to develop, learn, and reach their goals based on their own prerequisites. Every student should leave school with the desire, knowledge, and good conditions to meet adult life and the future.

Your new workplace

We are looking for a Study and Career Counselor (SYV) for Västermalm! Sundsvall Gymnasium, Västermalm. The politicians' and administration's goal and direction is that all children and students in Sundsvall's preschools and schools should have equal opportunities to develop, reach their goals, and become active citizens with many opportunities in life.

Every day, our approx. 3,000 employees within the Child and Education Administration meet with approx. 16,000 children and students at more than 130 units. Every day there is an opportunity to give them the prerequisites for continued learning and development. Our employees are important to us! Västermalm Gymnasium is an attractive and centrally located school; right now, over 1,000 students have chosen to complete their upper secondary education with us!

We offer 9 upper secondary programs, both university-preparatory and vocational; we also offer a technical fourth year, a gymnasieingenjör (engineering) program. At the Västermalm unit, we also have our introduction program.

How you contribute in the role of Study and Career Counselor

Study and Career Counselor for the programs Construction and Civil Engineering, Electrical and Energy, Industrial Technical, as well as 20% towards the introduction program. The duties include strategic work to create and maintain good relationships and networks within and with other municipalities, with the aim of informing and increasing the attractiveness of our upper secondary programs among prospective students.

You work relationally and communicatively with students, guardians, and colleagues. You are well-versed in, or find out about, the admission systems for vocational training, universities, and colleges in Sweden, but also abroad. You work to maintain good contacts with the business community and are a good counselor for both our current students on the programs and future students. You work together with your colleagues to provide the best education for our students.

You have good knowledge of the opportunities that the upper secondary programs and the introduction program can offer, and the doors that open after the student has completed their education. You actively participate in the school's joint systematic quality work and further training.

Your competence and experience

You are an engaged and strategic study and career counselor. Experience working with upper secondary programs and the introduction program is meritorious. You have good communication skills and are skilled at building good relationships. You are flexible, knowledgeable, engaged, and see opportunities in change. You have the ability to work independently, you have good teamwork skills, enjoy working in teams, and are driven by creating good opportunities every day for our students to reach their goals!

Salary: Monthly/hourly wage. Individual and differentiated salary setting is applied.

Terms: Salary benefits beyond the monthly wage follow the applicable collective agreement. Central collective agreements can be found on the Swedish Association of Local Authorities and Regions website, www.skr.se
