In August 2025, Hyllie Youth Centre opened its doors. The centre is aimed at young people from Year 6 to the final year of upper secondary school and aims to be a safe, inclusive, and inspiring meeting place where young people feel welcome. We are now looking for a substitute youth worker who wants to help develop and shape the activities together with young people and colleagues. The current position is a temporary assignment lasting approximately 9 months.
Job Responsibilities
As a youth worker, you will plan and carry out leisure activities with a focus on open activities, group activities, and outreach work. You work to create a meaningful leisure time for young people and have a coaching approach where you support young people's ideas and projects and guide them towards an active and developmental leisure time. Together with your colleagues, you will collaborate with local actors to broaden the activities and create an attractive youth centre.
Within the Youth Centre Unit, you will collaborate with other meeting places during various events and holiday activities. Collaboration with different actors, both municipal operations and civil society, is an important part of the assignment.
Your schedule includes regular day, evening, and weekend shifts.
Qualifications
We are looking for you who:
- Have a youth worker degree from a folk high school or other relevant post-secondary education combined with experience working with our target group. Other relevant post-secondary education could include, for example: pedagogy, social work, criminology, social sciences, leisure pedagogy, social work (socionom), social pedagogy, teacher, sociology, gender studies, sports science, international relations, or human rights.
- Have good knowledge of the Swedish language, both spoken and written.
It is meritorious if you:
- Have experience in driving projects or developing leisure activities.
- Have documented knowledge of norm-critical perspectives, gender equality, and youth participation.
- Have experience in outreach youth work.
- Have been involved voluntarily in some activity or association.
We are looking for you who are driven and proactive with a strong commitment. You are comfortable taking an active role in the activities and have a natural ability to engage and inspire others. With your positive aura and spontaneity, you contribute to a lively and inclusive environment. You are relationship-building and contribute to a warm, safe, and permissive atmosphere.
As the activities are being built from scratch, we see that you are initiative-taking, action-oriented, and have the ability to turn ideas into practice. You collaborate well with colleagues, young people, and external actors and find it easy to contact both young people and professionals. You enjoy creating structure and organizing your work, both independently and together with others. You are development-driven and show genuine commitment to both the activities and the young people.
