Join Trelleborg Municipality – Advisory and Support Unit, Individual and Family Care

In Trelleborg, we work together for a growing, successful municipality where it is good to live. Our 61 villages and 21 urban districts are creative meeting places bubbling with life. Here, we want things, talk about them, and come as we are. This is why we welcome others in the same generous and curious way.

Join us on this journey!

The Social Services Department's mission is to work with social services and provide support so that everyone in the municipality feels safe and has equal opportunities in life. We want everyone to be able to be active and involved in society. With a focus on respecting the individual's right to determine their own life, we are responsible for three important areas: care and support, support for people with disabilities, and assistance to individuals and families. Our goal is for everyone to receive the support and care they need.

Since everything Trelleborg Municipality does is based on our core values – openness, respect, and responsibility – it is important and crucial that these values are just as natural for you as they are for us in our work.

The Workplace

The Advisory and Support Unit is one of five units within Individual and Family Care and is responsible for domestic violence issues, outpatient interventions for families, and Barnahus Söderslätt. The unit has 31 employees, including one coordinator and two senior social secretaries, who, together with the unit manager, work to offer high-quality interventions to Trelleborg residents. Since 2026, the unit also runs projects to develop crime prevention work and offers both family therapy and network work without prior needs assessment.

With us, you will encounter a workplace characterized by good atmosphere and helpfulness, high professionalism and competence, as well as development and a forward-looking spirit.

Health and occupational safety issues, as well as development work, are prioritized areas at the workplace. We provide a thorough introduction, training in MI (Motivational Interviewing) and Signs of Safety for everyone, as well as continuous competence development as needed and required. At the workplace, there is an awareness of the importance of recovery and the possibility to work part of your hours from home.

The municipality offers fitness allowances, favorable bicycle schemes, and the possibility to exchange vacation days. The workplace has flexible working hours, but since urgent cases occur in the operations, work outside office hours may occasionally be required.

Communication opportunities are good as the workplace is located near the bus and train station.

Job Responsibilities

In the domestic violence group, four social secretaries work together with a senior social secretary to offer high-quality interventions to Trelleborg residents. The work group has a broad mandate that includes counseling for both victims of violence and perpetrators, as well as authority decisions regarding adult victims of violence.

As a social secretary, you will primarily work with conversations with both adult victims of violence and perpetrators. These conversations are offered without prior needs assessment. In addition, you will process applications for sheltered housing and follow up on approved protective placements. Both internal and external collaboration is common, both at the individual and organizational levels.

For those who wish to develop within the field of domestic violence, you will find stimulating and unique work with us.

You will have support and help available from the senior social secretary, manager, and colleagues, and of course, external supervision as well.

Qualifications

The job requires you to have a degree in social work or another degree that the employer deems relevant for the position. You need to have experience in the field of domestic violence and preferably also experience in authority decision-making. Since the focus of the position lies on counseling, it is an advantage if you have this experience and preferably also training in FREDA, PATRIARK, Conversations about Freedom, TRAPPAN, or Conversations about Violence.

It is of utmost importance that you have a strong commitment and that you easily build relationships with both people who have been exposed to violence and people who have committed violence. You need to be stable and able to see what works, and thrive working both independently and in close collaboration with colleagues and other partners. You need to be flexible and quickly able to adapt to new situations at work. You must have a valid driver's license (Category B).
