We are now looking for a Child Welfare Officer for the Individual and Family Care department.

The Role

The authority unit of Individual and Family Care consists of 19 employees and is part of the Health and Care business area. The unit works with authority exercises in several areas, including children and young people, adults, and family law.

As a Child Welfare Officer within the foster care service, you work both independently and in close collaboration with foster care secretaries and other colleagues within the unit. In this role, you are responsible for monitoring the development and care of children in foster homes for children and young people aged 0–20 years in accordance with the Social Services Act (SoL) and the Act with Special Provisions on Care of Young Persons (LVU). You follow up on care and contribute to good cooperation in the three-way parenthood between the foster home, social services, and the child's parents.

An important part of the role is to be a support for the child by helping the child understand and put words to their feelings and experiences, based on both their background and their current life situation. You promote good and safe interactions and have a clear focus on the best interests and needs of the child in various contexts.

The work involves handling complex and combined situations with the support of legislation, guidelines, and practice. Authority exercises and documentation are central parts of the role, which requires good planning skills, structure, and collaboration skills. You also need to have an interest in development and quality work and keep up to date with current research and knowledge development within foster care and social work with children and young people.

Competencies

We are looking for you who have a degree in social work and experience of authority exercises within social services' child and youth care. You have experience of meeting and talking with children, young people, and their guardians, and can create trusting relationships in complex situations.

You have a good ability to investigate, analyze, and assess children's needs for protection and support, as well as to make and justify decisions in accordance with current legislation, primarily the Social Services Act (SoL) and the Act with Special Provisions on Care of Young Persons (LVU). You also have experience of following up on decided measures and ensuring that they meet the child's needs and legal security.

It is meritorious if you have experience of the Signs of Safety approach, the Motivational Interviewing (MI) conversation method, as well as documentation and case handling in the business system Lifecare.

A B driving license is required for the position. You have a good ability to express yourself well in speech and writing, as well as to document and communicate in a legally secure, clear, and professional manner.

Interviews will begin in early August.
