Do you want to use literature, culture, and relationships to spark a love for reading and give young people new opportunities to succeed in school? Do you also thrive in a varied teaching role where you get to teach, support students, and be an important part of the school's pedagogical work?
Highlights of the job:
- Close proximity to young people
- Participate in and develop the school's reading promotion work
- Wonderful colleagues and a central role at the school
Your responsibilities
This is a combined position where the school librarian role is 50% and the other part is 50% as a teaching teacher.
As a school librarian, you work on the development of the school's reading promotion efforts and play a key role in supporting students in their knowledge development. We are looking for someone who is creative and forward-thinking in the role of school librarian and has an interest in young people, their living environments, and the culture they engage with. An important part of the assignment is to work on reading promotion with students who do not naturally find their way to books, libraries, or reading. You work to create and maintain an inclusive and inspiring library environment and collaborate with school staff to integrate the school library into the school's learning environment. You work together with teaching teachers in all subjects to plan and implement progressive information search and source criticism education. Together with the school's resource team, you work to ensure that students in need of special support are given the right conditions to benefit from the teaching. The responsibilities of the school librarian also include cataloging, weeding, and ordering the school's physical and digital teaching materials.
The second half of the position consists of teaching and pedagogical support in the school's operations. Depending on the needs of the operation, you can teach as a regular teacher, work as a teaching assistant, or support students in the role of a special needs educator. It is a varied role where you meet different groups of students, collaborate closely with colleagues, and contribute to a safe and developmental learning environment. Together with the rest of the school staff, you work to create the best conditions for students' learning and development.
The position also includes coordinating and holding extra examination sessions which are held approximately once a month.
Your profile
Since this is a combined position, we would like you to have experience of both libraries and teaching.
We are looking for someone who has a genuine commitment to young people, especially young people with limited reading habits and low motivation for schoolwork. You have the ability to build relationships, spark curiosity, and create pathways into reading and culture even for students who are far from literature.
Since the daily work consists of collecting and structuring different media, you must have a good ability to plan, prioritize, and structure the work. It is also required that you have an easy time building and maintaining good relationships with both colleagues and students.
We are looking for someone who has experience teaching at the upper secondary level, where having a teaching certification is an advantage.
As a school librarian, you have a bachelor's degree (180 higher education credits), of which 90 credits are in the main subject of library and information science or in relevant areas. You have very good Swedish in speech and writing.
We place great importance on your personal profile in this recruitment process. If you find the position attractive, do not hesitate to submit an application.
