Description
Our school needs you if you want to make a difference! We are now looking for a school counselor.
Svartedalsskolan, together with Landamäreskolan, is part of the Hisingen 19 school district. We are a school with space for approximately 550 students in the compulsory school. Additionally, we have about 50 students studying according to the adapted compulsory school curriculum. The district's leadership team consists of one principal and six assistant principals.

Responsibilities
As a school counselor, you are part of the school's student health team and contribute psychosocial competence at the organizational, group, and individual levels. In the student health team, you collaborate with the school nurse, special education teacher, school psychologist, school doctor, and assistant principal. The team's mission is to work health-promoting and preventive together with the principal and work teams to strengthen children's and young people's opportunities to achieve goals. You will also be part of the district's counselor team, which consists of three counselors.
Your responsibilities include, for example, participating in the school's continuous values and safety work, support conversations, collaborating with and supporting guardians, consulting with staff, and interventions in groups/classes. You also collaborate with external actors such as social services, habilitation, UPH, and BUP.
Together with the school's pedagogical staff, students, school leadership, and guardians, you contribute to creating conditions for optimal learning for every student. Within the compulsory school administration, you participate in professional meetings once a month together with fellow counselors and professional developers, as well as participating in external supervision. As a new school counselor, you will also receive an introduction and a mentor. School counselors in the Compulsory School Administration follow a common job description.
Qualifications
We are now looking for you who wish to work in the lower secondary school (grades 7-9) and have experience working as a counselor with special responsibility for the oldest students, both in regular and adapted education. Experience working in a multicultural context is also desirable.
We are looking for you who have a degree in social work or another higher education qualification that the employer considers equivalent. You have good knowledge of the Social Services Act and the Education Act and the ability to express yourself well in speech and writing, as you will document your work in PMO.
Meritorious qualifications also include:
- Experience of working within social services
- Experience of promoting and preventive measures
- Training in conversation methods / supervision
As a person, you are stable, empathetic, unpretentious, and secure in your professional role. You have a strong commitment to the psychosocial situation of children and young people and have the ability to meet people in different life situations. You enable children to tell their stories and contribute to highlighting students' involvement and perspectives.
You have an easy time building relationships and are professional and respectful in your approach to students, guardians, and colleagues. You need to have an interest in working in a pedagogical environment and in teams with different professions.
In your work, you are structured and clear and have the ability to take initiative and make decisions within the framework of your assignment. You also prioritize your interventions together with the principal and the rest of the student health team. The professional role requires a high degree of independence, teamwork skills, and personal maturity. You enjoy working with complex issues, see opportunities, and are creative. You keep your cool in difficult situations and can make well-founded decisions under time pressure.
