Statens institutionsstyrelse (SiS) is a government agency responsible for providing individually adapted compulsory care for young people with complex psychosocial issues and for adults with substance abuse problems. SiS also operates closed youth care facilities and homes for adults with substance abuse issues across the country. Working at SiS offers a challenging and exciting career where you, regardless of your role or location, contribute to life-changing changes.
At our headquarters in Solna Business Park, approximately 500 employees work together with the agency's other 5,000 employees to support and develop the organization.
Job Description
Are you inspired by the opportunity to contribute to a vital mission by developing leadership and governance within a complex organization? Do you have several years of experience working with leadership, governance, and administration in the public sector? If so, you may be the person we are looking for.
SiS is undergoing an exciting transformation with several parallel development initiatives aimed at improving leadership, governance, and support for the core operations. The Government Office Staff (Myndighetsstaben) is now seeking a qualified investigator/researcher who wants to contribute to the development of issues related to leadership and governance.
The staff's mission is to support the Director General and the Deputy Director General in their leadership and governance, as well as to strengthen the agency's collective capacity for strategic direction, governance, and coordination. You will work independently on strategic investigative and development assignments within the staff's area of expertise. Your tasks include preparing materials for the Director General and Deputy Director General, as well as processing various decision-making documents. You will often act as a coordinator towards other departments and sections, both internally and with external collaboration partners, and participate in networks and steering groups.
The Government Office Staff is led by a Head of Staff and consists of seven employees. The position is varied and developmental, and travel within Sweden may occur.
Qualifications
We are looking for you who have:
- An academic degree in law, social sciences, or another education that the employer considers equivalent.
- Several years of experience working with leadership, governance, and administration in the public sector.
- Experience in preparing and quality-assuring materials for top management.
- Very good knowledge and experience in processing cases/issues.
- Very good ability to express yourself both in writing and verbally in Swedish.
- Good ability to express yourself both in writing and verbally in English.
Merits:
- Experience working at the Government Offices (Regeringskansliet) or assignments involving contact with ministries.
- Experience in qualified investigative work.
- Experience working in a staff function or close to leadership.
- Experience working within SiS or similar operations.
To thrive and succeed in this role, it is important that you are structured, proactive, and solution-oriented. Since the work involves many contacts both within and outside the agency, we see that you as a person are communicative, have a well-developed ability to collaborate, and are non-hierarchical. You have the ability to quickly grasp complex issues that require both strategic thinking and a holistic view.
The work places high demands on taking responsibility for your tasks and organizing your work efficiently. You plan and adhere to set timeframes to ensure high-quality work. It is important that you can drive your work forward independently and take initiative when the situation requires it. Furthermore, you are curious and have a genuine interest in contributing your competence to develop operations and working methods. We place high demands on integrity and attach great importance to your personal suitability.
At SiS, we care about good employee relations. This means that you, as an employee, take responsibility for your work, contribute to development, and participate in good collaboration.
