The Swedish Civil Contingencies Agency (MSB) is the leading, guiding, and coordinating authority in civil defense. We ensure that society is prepared for crisis, high alert, and war.

Do you want to lead the work to make all of Sweden ready? Then you could be our next colleague.

We are now looking for a new employee for the basic training in Revinge to ensure we are well-equipped in our mission to staff the Swedish rescue services with competent personnel and strengthen civil defense.

Within the basic training at the Swedish Civil Contingencies Agency, we mainly train future rescue service personnel in SMO (Protection Against Accidents) as well as conscripts in basic and refresher training. We also fulfill a function within Grib training and various training programs within total defense and for other actors.

In the basic training, we offer a broad curriculum, ranging from knowledge and skills in supervision and accident prevention to knowledge and skills for acting in various types of operations such as rescue, fire, hazardous materials, natural disasters, and rescue services during high alert.

Your responsibilities and tasks

As a teacher in the basic training, you will initially serve as a teaching resource in many different types of lessons. A large part of your working time will be spent in teaching, where you support exercise leaders in practical pre- and post-work, guide and instruct students, and act as a safety officer/instructor in warm-up training environments, accompanying students who participate in smoke diving exercises.

Although the position is broad, we are looking for you who have a special interest or experience and training in the rescue field. This includes areas such as working at heights, animal rescue, forest fires, water rescue, traffic accidents, heavy rescue, and urban search and rescue (USAR). Experience with chainsaw training is also considered an advantage.

In your employment, you will have the opportunity to develop in the role of a teacher by taking our internal pedagogical courses, as well as through guidance and pedagogical discussions with colleagues and managers. As you develop and feel confident in the teaching role, your tasks will broaden, and assignments such as exercise leader, course coordinator, or subject coordinator may be added. Development work in various forms will also be included.

Your knowledge and competencies

We are looking for you who have:

  • basic training in protection against accidents, SMO, or equivalent knowledge and experience that the employer can assess as equivalent,
  • at least 5 years of practical experience from rescue services.

It is an advantage if you have:

  • pedagogical education or experience in guiding/training colleagues or students,
  • training certificates in working at heights and/or chainsaw operation,
  • fitness certificate for smoke diving according to AFS 2023:13,
  • experience from full-time work in rescue services,
  • experience or training in animal rescue, forest fires, traffic accidents, heavy rescue, and USAR.

In all our work, both internally and externally, we must act based on the state's values. As all employees and leaders here, you are expected to act according to the agency's approach.

The approach applies in everyday life, crisis, and war. They should be seen as a whole and build on each other; collaboration-oriented – proactive – action-oriented.

Read more about our approach.

To succeed in the role, we see that you have pedagogical insight. We place great importance on your personal qualities.

About the employment

We offer you a permanent full-time position starting with a probationary period.

Your place of work will be in Revinge, and travel within the employment will occur.

The majority of our positions involve placement in a security class. Swedish citizenship is usually required. In the event of placement in a security class, a security investigation with register check will be conducted prior to employment according to Chapter 3 of the Security Protection Act. Most employees at the Swedish Civil Contingencies Agency are war-placed.

About us

At the basic training, we are just over 40 employees, mostly teachers. We are divided into 2 school sections, each led by a manager. We enjoy working together and in the collegium, we help each other solve daily tasks and problems. It is a very inclusive atmosphere, and you always have close access to managers and colleagues.

All of us working at the Swedish Civil Contingencies Agency are expected and should contribute to increased gender equality and equal treatment for a work environment and society free from discrimination.
