Workplace Description
The Department of Chemistry at Lund University (KILU) is a joint department for chemistry within the Faculty of Science and the Faculty of Engineering, Lund Institute of Technology (LTH). All research and education at the department take place at Kemicentrum, which is the largest center in the Nordic countries for education and research in chemistry. Kemicentrum also houses the Department of Chemical Engineering and Applied Biosciences, with which the department has close cooperation.
The Department of Chemistry has approximately 300 employees, of whom about 150 are doctoral students. The number of full-time students participating in the basic education is nearly 500.

As a student employee, you can combine studies with work and complement your theoretical knowledge with practical work experience.
We are looking for several SI (Supplemental Instruction) leaders for our introductory chemistry courses as well as the intermediate course in organic chemistry.
Responsibilities
As a student employee, you will serve as an SI leader for smaller student groups in our basic courses KEMA20 General Chemistry and KEMA41 Organic Chemistry - Basic Course, as well as the intermediate course in organic chemistry, KEMB21 Organic Chemistry.
In the role of SI leader, you will receive support from the Study Director, who can answer your questions regarding the course content and pedagogical structure, and ensure that you receive the information and practical help you need.
The duties of this position include:
- participation in SI leader training
- responsibility for SI meetings conducted for groups of 15-20 students where relevant content from the courses is discussed
- reviewing information from course coordinators and using this information when planning SI sessions
- providing feedback to the course coordinator on how students in the exercise group are progressing so that corrective measures can be taken
- administration.
Eligibility
Eligible for employment as a student employee is someone who is engaged in full-time studies at the university level, has completed approved studies equivalent to at least 60 higher education credits, and has not started doctoral studies.
Qualifications
Requirements for the position are:
- ongoing full-time studies within a bachelor's or master's program in chemistry
- at least 60 ECTS in natural science courses, including MATA03, of which 45 ECTS correspond to the first-year courses in chemistry within the bachelor's programs in chemistry
- very good knowledge of Swedish, both spoken and written
- good communication skills
Merits for the position include:
- several completed courses in chemistry, preferably with high grades within the bachelor's or master's program in chemistry at Lund University
- previous experience in teaching or leadership
Other Information
The extent of the employment is as follows:
KEMA20 20% during the period 2026-08-31 – 2026-11-01
KEMA41 20% during the period 2026-11-02 – 2027-01-17
KEMB21 20% during the period 2026-11-02 – 2027-01-17
You will work according to a schedule established in agreement with you.
