Subject Description

Electrical Engineering covers studies of sustainable systems for electricity generation and transport of electrical energy, as well as the interaction between power grids, electricity generation, and electricity consumption.

Job Responsibilities

Associate Professors are normally expected to be engaged in both university education, pedagogical development work, and research. For an Associate Professor, this also includes following the international development of the subject and supervising doctoral students. Associate Professors are expected to contribute to the university's development work, work to secure external research funding for the subject, and be available for leadership and administrative tasks.

For Associate Professors, this also includes leading research projects and communicating their results through academic publications, as well as being active within the research community in their own field.

As an Associate Professor, you will strengthen the group and broaden the research activities, supervise doctoral students, and teach students. Possible research directions are:

  • Operation and operational security of future transmission and distribution networks
  • Planning, acceptance limits (grid capacity), and reliability of future transmission and distribution networks
  • Protection of future transmission and distribution networks

Qualifications

Eligible for employment as an Associate Professor is someone who has demonstrated both scientific proficiency and pedagogical proficiency. Equal care should be given to the assessment of pedagogical and scientific proficiency.

To meet the requirements for employment as an Associate Professor, the applicant must:

  • demonstrate a research profile with clear progression after the doctoral thesis and scientific contributions equivalent to at least two doctoral theses, including the doctoral thesis itself
  • have worked as an independent researcher, through among other things
    • experience of research-related trust assignments, such as reviewer for journals and/or opponent
    • experience of competitively applying for and being awarded external funding for research and/or development projects
    • experience of having had a leading role in research projects
    • having published together with researchers in research environments other than their own
  • have experience of supervision at the doctoral level and acted as an assistant supervisor for at least one doctoral student for at least two years, unless there are special reasons for otherwise
  • demonstrate pedagogical proficiency through reflective experience, teaching skills, and teaching development
  • have completed higher education pedagogy training equivalent to 7.5 ECTS credits, or alternatively acquired equivalent knowledge in another way
  • demonstrate the ability to collaborate with the surrounding society, through among other things
    • making new knowledge accessible to the surrounding society
    • incorporating societal needs into research and/or educational contexts

  • scientific proficiency
  • pedagogical proficiency
  • other evaluation criteria

Other evaluation criteria, weighted equally:

  • skill in developing and leading operations and personnel within the university
  • administrative proficiency that is significant with regard to the subject content and the tasks included in the employment
  • ability to collaborate with the surrounding society
  • ability to obtain external research and development funding
  • ability to inform about research and development work
  • ability to teach in Swedish
  • ability to develop courses at basic and advanced levels
  • published research results, within one or more of the proposed directions, in leading international journals
