Humlab is a work unit and research infrastructure with about twenty employees within the Faculty of Humanities. Humlab's mission is to initiate, inspire, and develop the interaction between the humanities, culture, and information technology. Humlab's premises are located in two buildings on campus: the Humanisthuset and the Samhällsvetarhuset under the University Library, where Humlab's lab environment is also situated. In this environment, lectures, workshops, and other events are offered for researchers, students, and the general public.
About the project:
Lohkanlihkku (Reading Joy), a web-based game designed to strengthen reading skills in five different Sami languages. The game is developed in collaboration with our partners at the universities of Jyväskylä and Rovaniemi, as well as the Sámi University of Applied Sciences in Kautokeino. Humlab is now in need of recruiting a project assistant with competencies in South Sami for this project, which is funded by Interreg Aurora and Västerbotten County.
Description of duties:
The main duties will include:
- translating and producing project materials in South Sami
- collaborating with partners in the Interreg Aurora project Lohkanlihkku to map reading and writing education for South Sami through surveys and interviews
- creating game content in South Sami (words, expressions, and sound combinations)
- conducting interviews
- presenting the project
The duties may change over time.
Competency requirements:
To be eligible for employment as a project assistant, you must have at least a secondary school diploma. For this position, you must have very good ability to speak, read, and write in South Sami.
You must also have good ability to read, write, and communicate in Swedish and English, as well as the ability to give presentations and interact in meetings (in English and Swedish).
You are self-directed in your work with the ability to coordinate your own and others' work. Additionally, it is a requirement that you are an experienced user of Microsoft 365.
Other desirable qualifications:
It is meritorious if you have previous experience of teaching in South Sami combined with documented language skills in North Sami.
University-level education is considered meritorious.
Previous experience of working within a university/higher education context is meritorious.
Great importance will be attached to personal suitability.

Additional information:
The employment is permanent, part-time 30%, with immediate effect or as agreed. However, the project runs until 2028-02-29 at the latest.
