Job Description and Responsibilities
At Lund University, a position as a postdoctoral researcher should provide opportunities for scientific and pedagogical merit development. Primarily, this involves merit development within research, but also some higher education pedagogical training. Teaching may also be included in the duties (max 20%).
The research will be within algebraic topology, as part of the project "Local to Global Principles for Topological Quantum Field Theory" funded by the Swedish Research Council. The position includes the possibility of three weeks of training in higher education pedagogy.
Detailed description of duties:
- research within the subject area;
- teaching (max. 20%);
- supervision of degree theses and doctoral students.
Qualifications
Requirements for the position are:
- a PhD or equivalent foreign degree in algebraic topology; the PhD must be completed no later than the time the employment decision is made;
- good ability to develop and conduct high-quality research;
- good pedagogical skills;
- you should also be motivated, have initiative, be able to work independently and in a team, and be resilient;
- very good oral and written skills in English.
Merits for the position include:
- primarily, the applicant in question will be one who has completed their degree no more than three years before the last application deadline;
- a strong background in higher algebra and higher category theory;
- previous work experience with modular forms.
The assessment of applicants will primarily be based on their scientific merits and potential as researchers. Special weight will be attached to scientific ability within the subject area.
Consideration will also be given to good teamwork skills, drive, and independence, as well as how the applicant's experience and skills complement and strengthen ongoing research within the department, and how they can contribute to its future development.
About the Position
This is a full-time position with a fixed-term duration of 3 years. The employment period is determined in accordance with the collective agreement on fixed-term employment as a postdoctoral researcher (Swedish Agency for Government Employers). A postdoctoral position is intended as an initial step in the career and as an opportunity to further deepen and broaden research competence.
The desired start date for the position is October 1, 2026.

Research and education are conducted at the Faculty of Science in biology, astronomy, physics, earth sciences, chemistry, mathematics, and environmental science. The operations are conducted at eight departments located within the northern university area. The Faculty has approximately 1,500 students, 360 doctoral students, and 700 staff members.
