We are currently looking for an engaged teacher for our adapted primary school in Hudiksvall. The school is geographically divided, with grades 1–6 located at Västra School and grades 7–9 at Östra School.

At the adapted primary school, we provide education for students who are not assessed as being able to meet the knowledge requirements of the standard primary school, due to intellectual disability or cognitive impairment resulting from brain injury. The education is adapted to each student's prerequisites. As far as possible, the education corresponds to that offered in the regular primary school. The adapted primary school has its own consolidated curriculum that sets out goals, guidelines, and the basic values that characterize the school's operations. The curriculum is supplemented with course plans and knowledge requirements. The school period for adapted primary school is nine years.

We currently have 60 students distributed across 9 classes, studying subject areas, subjects, or a combination of both. The school currently has approximately 16 teachers, a special needs educator, a school counselor, and a special education teacher. Teaching and student assistants are also employed at the school. We have a high staffing level, with all personnel having a genuine interest in learning and creating conditions for learning.

Responsibilities

Our adapted primary school is divided into 9 teaching groups with students of mixed ages. You will be responsible for planning and implementing teaching in all subjects, for both students studying specific subjects and those studying subject areas. You will also be responsible for documentation, evaluation, and assessment of students' knowledge development.

You will have experienced assistants to help you carry out lessons together. The position also includes collaborative collegial work in working groups, school development, and mentoring for 5–7 students.

Your Profile

We are looking for someone with a teaching degree. We prefer that you have a special education teacher qualification and previous experience working with students with intellectual disabilities. Relevant work experience is an advantage. Personal suitability is prioritized.

You use sign language and picture support in your teaching. You are accustomed to working independently but view collegial learning as a natural starting point. You collaborate easily, and the role includes supervising student assistants in their work. You are keen on creating a safe learning environment based on mutual respect.

We teach children to read, calculate, and discover the world around them. Here, we follow our youngest municipal residents from preschool until they graduate from upper secondary school. Through our adult education programs, one can learn Swedish as a second language, take individual courses, or pursue longer education.
