You will be part of a dedicated team of 11 counselors, with nine on the Adult Education (Komvux) side and two on the Swedish for Immigrants (SFI) side. This position is on the Komvux side. Our workplace, with 160 employees, is located at Nedre Åkargatan 67, where we enjoy a large inner courtyard as well as a welcoming light court with an information hub. The adult education center is centrally located in Gävle, within walking distance of the train station.

WORK ASSIGNMENTS

Education is a core issue in the development of Gävle Municipality, and adult education is a key player in the work to raise the education level of the municipality's residents. Our mission is to support and stimulate adult learning, providing opportunities to develop knowledge and skills to strengthen the individual's position in working and social life, as well as for personal development. We give people a new or second chance and collaborate with other activities to enable pathways to work or further studies.

The adult education program has approximately 4,000 students per year within adapted education for adults, basic and upper secondary adult education, vocational training, and Swedish for Immigrants (SFI). The operations also include a Learning Center for distance studies at a higher level.

We offer stimulating work with daily variations in a multicultural environment. As a study and career counselor, you meet individuals at different stages of life through individual counseling sessions, group information meetings, and drop-in services. You inform about educational opportunities and are an important part of the validation process. Through our case management system, where Customer Service distributes incoming cases, and via an e-service for booking phone calls, you help ensure accessible and high-quality counseling.

The assignment includes close collaboration with the administration in the admission process, colleagues, and principals within adult education to contribute to increased goal achievement. You also collaborate with other operations within the municipality, authorities, other municipalities, and external educational providers.

Your tasks include, but are not limited to:

• Conducting individual counseling sessions
• Creating Individual Study Plans
• Leading group information sessions and participating in drop-in activities
• Informing about education and study paths in various contexts
• Handling cases via the operation's case management system
• Contributing to validation processes
• Collaborating in the admission process together with the administration
• Cooperating with internal and external actors to support individuals' path to work or studies

QUALIFICATIONS

We are looking for two people for full-time positions to expand our work group. We are looking for you who have the right competence and a genuine commitment to guiding and supporting people in their development. You play an important role in creating trust, providing clear information, and contributing to individuals' path to work or studies.

Formal requirements:

• Degree in Study and Career Counseling
• Good knowledge of and experience with working with digital tools
• Good ability to express yourself in Swedish, both orally and in writing

It is meritorious for the position if you have experience working as a study and career counselor and experience with adult education or working with adults in counseling contexts.

To succeed in the role, you are:

• Relationship-building and have an easy time creating and maintaining good relationships, both internally and externally
• Communicative, receptive, and show empathy, adapting your communication to the situation and individual
