The position is located within the Department of Social Work, Criminology, and Public Health Science. We are one of three departments at the Academy of Health and Working Life. Within the department, there are four degree programs: bachelor's program in investigative criminology, bachelor's program in social work with a focus on international social work, social worker program, as well as master's programs and doctoral education in social work with a focus on health-promoting working life.

The Rector has decided that a master's program in criminology should be developed, and eventually a doctoral education in criminology. Therefore, a master's program in criminology is currently being established. Additionally, there are standalone courses and commissioned training. The bachelor's program in investigative criminology has high demand among first-choice applicants in the country, and the education is conducted online.

We are now looking for a part-time to full-time temporary university lecturer in criminology.

Job Responsibilities

The responsibilities consist of teaching, supervision, examination, and course responsibility primarily within the subject of criminology, but can also be within other educational offerings, in both Swedish and English.

Teaching takes place at the undergraduate and advanced levels and is located partly on campus and partly online. The position also includes participating in the department's and subject's development work, as well as administrative work, collaboration, and internationalization. Research may be included during competence development time if the operations allow it, or alternatively through obtaining external funding.

The workplace is in Gävle.

Qualifications

A doctoral degree or a relevant foreign degree assessed as equivalent to a doctoral degree is required for the position. The applicant must have completed their doctoral degree in criminology or a subject that the employer considers equivalent. In addition, documented pedagogical competence is required, see the Higher Education Ordinance (1993:100) and the Employment Regulations at the University of Gävle. The applicant must, considering the content and duties of the position, show good ability to express themselves orally and in writing in Swedish and English.

The applicant must have completed higher education pedagogical training equivalent to at least ten weeks of full-time studies or acquired equivalent knowledge in another way.

Equal care is given to the assessment of scientific and pedagogical competence during the appointment process.

Documented experience of research, teaching, supervision, and examination within criminology is particularly meritorious. Furthermore, the person's praised ability to collaborate is particularly meritorious. Administrative ability is meritorious.
