Job Description

Teaching in open activities involves learning and creation based on the conditions in the meeting with children and young people, built on the current art form and the opportunity to be creative together with children and young people in the moment.

Qualifications

We welcome applicants with varying backgrounds, experience, and education. We are looking for you who have experience working with children and young people from different backgrounds and preferably have education or experience in leading and teaching in pedagogical contexts. You have good knowledge and experience within your artistic subject area and practice it actively at a high level.

You express yourself effortlessly in Swedish in both speech and writing and have strong pedagogical skills with an inclusive approach. As a person, you are relationship-building, communicative, and have an easy time collaborating with both colleagues within the Music School and external partners. You have the ability to create safe, inspiring, and developing learning environments for children and young people, as well as a genuine interest and commitment to working in a multicultural environment.

It is meritorious if you have an academic degree equivalent to a Bachelor of Arts (180 credits) with a focus relevant to the area of operations, or other education that the employer considers equivalent. Further education in pedagogy or other areas that strengthen the work with teaching and learning for children and young people is also seen as an advantage.

We would like you to have experience of outreach activities and of working to reach children and young people who today do not participate in the Music School's activities to the same extent. Experience in promoting children's and young people's participation and influence is also meritorious, as is experience from a music school or other pedagogical, cultural, or creative activities directed at children and young people.

Knowledge of additional languages relevant to Malmö's multicultural society is an asset.

About the Workplace

Malmö Music School is Sweden's third largest music school, where children and young people have the opportunity to try out and develop within artistic expressions such as music, dance, theater, visual arts, and design, etc., in their spare time.
