The client is exploring the possibility of developing an automated scheduling system for a complex healthcare operation. The solution should be able to optimize schedules based on legal requirements, operational rules, competencies, roles, available resources, and other operation-specific parameters.

The organization currently has an experienced .NET team with a good understanding of both the business and the data to be used, but lacks specialist competence in optimization algorithms and scheduling solutions. Therefore, they are looking for a senior consultant who can contribute expertise in optimization and AI, lead the technical feasibility study, and produce a decision-making basis for further development.

The assignment includes, among other things, evaluating and validating different technical solutions through prototypes (PoV), defining a suitable target architecture, collaborating closely with the development team, and ensuring that the solution is maintainable internally. The consultant is also expected to act as a technical advisor, coach the team, and clearly communicate technical decisions to both developers and decision-makers.

We are looking for a person with experience in optimization models, AI, system architecture, and cloud-based solutions (Azure or AWS), who thrives in the role of a technical leader and can translate complex problems into feasible and business-adapted solutions.

Required Qualifications

We are looking for a consultant who has:

• Documented experience in evaluating, selecting, and implementing suitable optimization models for complex scheduling or planning solutions, and the ability to justify technical decisions through examples such as a Proof of Value (PoV).
• Experience in combining AI technology with traditional system development and optimization logic.
• Good familiarity with working closely with .NET development teams and understanding their tools, working methods, and technical environment.
• Experience in creating and documenting solution architecture that can be handed over to and maintained by internal development teams.
• Good understanding of system integrations, APIs, and system interfaces.
• Experience in defining target architecture for optimization solutions in existing system landscapes.
• Ability to assess when rule-based, optimization-based, or hybrid-based solutions are most appropriate.
• Experience in conducting technical feasibility studies, experiments, and prototypes to validate solution alternatives before implementation.
• Experience with cloud-based solutions on Azure or AWS, preferably in combination with Microsoft's technology stack.
• Experience in contributing specialist competence in established teams and creating value through collaboration and knowledge transfer.

Assignment Scope and Structure

Scope: Approximately 80 consulting hours distributed over the duration of the assignment, equivalent to approximately two half-days per week (4 hours).

Working Method: The assignment is carried out iteratively in close collaboration with the initiative leader and development team, with regular check-ins and ongoing feedback.

Goals and Deliverables: The consultant will evaluate whether an internally developed solution is technically and operationally feasible, test and validate different technical approaches through Proof of Value (PoV), and produce recommendations and decision-making support for the steering group's continued choices.

For the right consultant, there is an opportunity to continue in a subsequent implementation phase if the investigation leads to a positive decision.

As part of the process, a background check will be conducted on candidates deemed suitable for further presentation to the client.
