We are now looking for a Literature Developer for the Section for Cultural Development within Regional Development at Region Jönköping County. In this role, you will have the opportunity to work strategically with literary issues, develop collaborations within the literary field, and coordinate the region's important city of refuge work.

The Role of Literature Developer

Literature plays a vital role in society. It strengthens people's ability to think critically, creates understanding of different experiences and perspectives, and contributes to language, imagination, and democratic participation. In an era characterized by rapid digital development, changing media habits, and a constant flow of information, the significance of literature and storytelling is greater than ever.

As a Literature Developer, you work strategically and development-oriented to strengthen literature as an art form in Jönköping County. Based on the regional cultural plan, you drive and develop work together with municipalities, libraries, civil society, authors, publishers, and other actors within the literary field and cultural life.

You also serve as the City of Refuge Coordinator for Region Jönköping County, coordinating the region's city of refuge work in collaboration with the International Cities of Refuge Network (ICORN). The assignment involves contributing to creating conditions for literary creation and development, as well as participating in regional, national, and international networks within literature and reading promotion.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

• Monitoring, making accessible, and strengthening literature and literary creation in the county
• Promoting literary activities for children and young people, with a special focus on those aged 13 to 19
• Developing literary meeting places and arenas where residents can meet professional authors
• Strengthening networks and collaboration between authors, libraries, organizers, bookstores, and publishers
• Contributing to strengthening the opportunities and conditions for professional authors in the county
• Implementing and further developing literary events, workshops, and initiatives for youth writing
• Working with environmental scanning regarding funding models, publication formats, and literary policy
• Coordinating city of refuge work and participating in projects within democracy, freedom of expression, and international cooperation
• Developing regional, national, and international networks within the field of literature

The position is a permanent full-time employment (100 percent) with a start date to be agreed upon.

The Section for Cultural Development is part of Regional Development within Region Jönköping County and serves as a unifying knowledge force for the county's cultural life. The section's mission is to promote, disseminate knowledge, and educate. Consultation and collaboration with the county's municipalities, civil society, study associations, independent cultural practitioners, and cultural institutions are central to the work. The section also participates in regional, national, and international collaborations to develop the opportunities and conditions for culture. The goal is to contribute to a rich and vibrant cultural life in the county and stimulate development in areas such as literature, library development, visual arts, performance, dance, film, handicrafts, and freedom of expression. Children and young people are a prioritized perspective in the operations.

Your Profile

We are looking for you who have relevant higher education and experience in the field. You have a strong interest in literature as well as documented knowledge of the literary field and its conditions. We seek someone who is strategic, analytical, and communicative, with experience leading processes and projects. You are good at collaborating, building long-term relationships, and creating networks. You are self-motivated, initiative-taking, and goal-oriented, viewing environmental scanning as a natural part of your work. You have a good understanding of the importance of culture in a democratic society and good knowledge of English, both spoken and written. A B-class driver's license is required as the position involves travel, primarily within Jönköping County.
