About the Department

The Education Department is responsible for preschools, primary schools, after-school centers, upper secondary schools, adult education, as well as child and student health services. Approximately 1,100 employees work here, together creating a secure and developmental school and childcare environment.

The Native Language Unit is a department consisting of approximately 25 teachers who instruct multilingual students. The students are spread across all municipal primary schools in Ystad Municipality. Currently, we offer instruction in 23 languages. Job Responsibilities

As a person, you easily create good relationships with students, guardians, and colleagues. You thrive in a job where collaboration is crucial for results. You also need to be structured and plan your work based on existing guidelines, but be flexible to adapt when necessary.

As a native language teacher, you travel to municipal primary schools both within Ystad and at rural schools to teach students in their native language. The assignment includes planning, conducting, and documenting the teaching in the form of assessment and grading based on the course plan in the subject of native language with students of different ages. We assume that you meet students based on their individual needs and conditions, have a holistic view of student learning, and are curious about using language-developing working methods. The work also includes collaborating and developing your work together with colleagues at the Native Language Unit.

Qualifications and Merits

You have Danish as your native language and have documented language skills in this. Education in Swedish equivalent to Swedish as a second language at the upper secondary level is necessary. The current language must be your native language. You need to have knowledge of the Swedish school system and the role of teachers in Sweden, as well as experience using digital tools and working in various digital systems, e.g., Google environment and Office. Swedish teacher certification or other pedagogical education in Sweden is meritorious, as is experience in native language instruction or other pedagogical work with children or young people in Sweden. If you have documented knowledge in multiple languages, this is also meritorious, as are studies in the current language at the college or university level. A B-driver's license makes communication between schools easier.

Of course, you have the student in focus, and you have the ability to create good relationships with students, guardians, and other employees in the team around the student. You see your part in the whole, and adapt easily when conditions change.
