Social Secretary focusing on Self-Sufficiency

Welcome to the Department of Work, Competence and Welfare (AKV), a workplace where you make a difference – every day.

We are now looking for a Social Secretary with a focus on self-sufficiency.

About the Role

If you join our team, you will belong to the Unit for Labour Market, Integration, and Financial Assistance within the Self-Sufficiency process. Here, social secretaries, case handlers within financial assistance, and employees within labour market initiatives work together towards a common goal – to help more people achieve self-sufficiency.

Our mission is clear: to support people towards their own and sustainable livelihood through work, studies, or other paths to increased independence. To succeed in this, we work based on the BIP model, where the individual's resources, motivation, and progression are at the center. We believe in people's ability to develop and in the importance of a professional, respectful, and solution-focused approach.

We are at the beginning of a major organizational change where we want to strengthen the focus on work towards self-sufficiency. Development work continues in line with new legal requirements, including activity requirements. Therefore, we are looking for you who want to contribute with engagement, new perspectives, and an interest in operational development.

Through digitalization and developed processes, we work to create more time for what is most important – the meeting with the human being. With us, you will have the opportunity to work closely with the client, follow progression over time, and be an important part of the work towards self-sufficiency.

We have recently moved into modern, activity-based premises in the center of Kristinehamn. As an employee with us, you are offered among other things a wellness allowance, staff activities, and the possibility of remote work agreements.

For us, it is important that you thrive and develop in your work. We place great emphasis on collaboration, respect, and good collegial support, with the conviction that we are each other's work environment and together create a workplace where people want to stay and grow.

Responsibilities

As a Social Secretary with a focus on self-sufficiency, you work to support people on the path to work, studies, or other long-term sustainable livelihoods.

The main focus of the position lies in motivational work, planning, coordination, and follow-up. You work closely with the client and collaborate with both internal and external actors to create conditions for change and progression.

Your tasks include, among other things:

  • Conduct structured mappings and assessments based on the BIP model.
  • Together with the client, create, implement, and follow up individual plans towards self-sufficiency.
  • Motivate, guide, and strengthen the client's participation in the change process.
  • Coordinate measures and follow up on progression towards set goals.
  • Collaborate with the Swedish Public Employment Service, the Swedish Social Insurance Agency, healthcare, educational providers, and other relevant actors.
  • Document and follow up on work in the operational system.
  • Contribute to the development of methods, working practices, and operational results.
  • Carry out home visits when necessary.
  • Integration work - Receive and guide newly arrived persons.

The position involves close collaboration with the unit's financial case handlers. You assess the right to financial assistance based on agreed planning and prepare decision support for the financial case handler. Some other handling of financial assistance may occur.

Qualifications

Requirements:

  • A degree in Social Work or other education of at least 180 ECTS credits that the employer deems equivalent.
  • Good knowledge of the Social Services Act (SoL) and related legislation.
  • Category B driver's license.

Merits:

  • Experience in working with financial assistance.
  • Experience in labor market issues, integration, or change-oriented social work.
  • Experience of collaboration with the Swedish Public Employment Service, the Swedish Social Insurance Agency, or other authorities.
  • Knowledge of the BIP model or similar structured working methods.
  • Experience in Motivational Interviewing (MI) or solution-focused work.
  • Experience with evidence-based methods, e.g., Supported Employment or IPS.

About You

We are looking for you who have a genuine interest in people and are motivated by creating conditions for change and development.

You are secure in your professional role and have the ability to create trusting relationships while being able to set demands and maintain direction in the work towards set goals.

You work systematically, take responsibility for your tasks, and adapt easily when conditions change. You enjoy collaboration and see the value of working together with colleagues and other actors to find the best solutions for the individual.

We also believe that you are curious, development-oriented, and want to contribute to developing both the operation and future social work.

Great importance will be attached to personal suitability.

Employment Terms

Type of Employment: Permanent position.
Duration: Permanent, start: Autumn 2026 or as agreed.

If you are not a citizen of Sweden, the EU, EEA, or Switzerland and are offered employment, you must be able to prove that you have a valid work permit or are exempt from the obligation to have a work permit.
