A little girl, barely two months old, is about to go home to her family for the first time. Since her birth, she has been cared for in the hospital, and now her return home is being prepared together with the assistants who will become part of her daily life.

Here, you will become part of a completely newly formed assistant group. You will be involved in establishing routines and ensuring effective collaboration from the ground up, which requires you to be unpretentious, flexible, and contribute to a positive atmosphere within the group.

The girl lives with her mother and father and three older siblings aged 2, 7, and 8 in central Bro. The family is warm and engaged, and home life can sometimes be quite lively. If you enjoy being around children and thrive in an active family environment, you could become a vital part of the girl's daily life.

About the Assignment The assignment is medically complex and requires 24/7 supervision. The girl's tracheostomy means that there are always two assistants together — you are never alone with the responsibility. Having two assistants also places demands on teamwork: you take turns with certain tasks and perform others side by side, and you and your colleague need to communicate throughout the entire shift.

Your main responsibilities include monitoring the girl's breathing, caring for the tracheostomy and handling the tracheal cannula, performing suctioning, and administering nutrition via a nasal tube. These tasks are specialized and require focus and sustained attention throughout the work shift. Since the girl is sensitive to infections, strict hygiene and a clean environment around her are just as important parts of the job — they are prerequisites for keeping her safe and healthy. The medical care and daily caregiving are closely linked, and both aspects are integral to providing her with a good and secure life.

You will receive full training in all medical procedures at the New Karolinska Solna Hospital and ongoing education throughout the assignment. Previous medical experience is not required — we train the right person.

You are calm, pedagogical, and warm, and you are easily attuned to the needs of the girl and the family. You are meticulous in your work, take initiative when needed, and are confident enough to read the situation — sometimes you step forward and take charge, and at other times you provide support more in the background so that the family has space to just be a family.

Requirements

• You enjoy being around children

• You do not smoke

• You have good Swedish language skills (spoken and written)

The home is located close to both commuter train and bus stations, so you do not need a driver's license for this assignment — you can easily commute to and from work using public transport.

About the Employment We are looking for both those who want a fixed schedule shift and those who wish to work as an hourly substitute as needed. Working hours vary between day, evening, and night according to the schedule. Start date will be arranged with consideration for the girl's planned discharge from the hospital.

Before starting, you will begin with introductory shifts together with specialized care staff at LIVA at the New Karolinska Solna Hospital, so that you as an assistant get the best possible conditions for the girl's return home.
