Among other things, Sweden's first chair in Catastrophe Medicine was established at Linköping University. Catastrophe medicine is a clinical subject traditionally rooted in trauma surgery. Since its inception, the Centre for Catastrophe Medicine has applied a progressive approach to catastrophe medicine, with a clear transdisciplinary and interprofessional angle. The field of catastrophe medicine is currently of particular relevance in relation to the rebuilding of healthcare preparedness in total defense, while catastrophe medicine issues are recurring in many societal challenges such as climate change, cyberattacks, terrorism, and pandemics.
As a professor, you are active in the research community, participate in the department's activities such as seminars and workshops, participate in research projects, communicate results through scientific publications, and contribute to attracting external research funding. The centre also conducts various types of professional training, which you are expected to participate in. You lead scientific projects and the centre's academic work, as well as contribute to external funding for the activities at the centre.
As a Professor of Catastrophe Medicine, you teach at undergraduate, advanced, and doctoral levels in Swedish and English, and supervise students within the various programs of the Faculty of Medicine. The work includes administrative tasks such as course design, course responsibility, and examination. At the Faculty of Medicine, student-active teaching methods are applied.
You actively contribute to the development work of the university and the centre. You contribute to collaboration, which is an integrated part of the university's research and educational mission.
We would like you to participate in and show interest in leadership roles within and as a representative for LiU and Region Östergötland. In your work, you represent the subject in national and international forums as well as in the media. Your work includes following developments nationally and internationally within your field of study and the societal development that is significant for your work. We expect you to have close and continuous interaction with both the Trauma Centre US and other catastrophe medicine-relevant activities, as well as participate in relevant strategic initiatives at Linköping University and Region Östergötland.
