We are looking for a Diocesan Theologian who, with great commitment, can drive and develop theology and parish life in the Diocese of Härnösand, and contribute to theological deepening and development in the diocese's parishes.

At the diocesan chancery, we work for the benefit of the parishes. We create appropriate and sustainable conditions for being a church today, while simultaneously preparing for the church we wish to see in the future.

Approximately 50 employees work here. The position of Diocesan Theologian is located within the "Faith and Life" unit, whose 13 current employees have various roles in promoting worship, education, diaconia, and mission. This covers areas such as recruitment, worship development, church music, baptism and confirmation, Sami church life, pilgrimage, institutional chaplaincy, pastoral care, the young people of the Church of Sweden, and idealism.

Responsibilities

As a Diocesan Theologian, you will work with theological reflection, both in relation to parish life and in dialogue with the outside world. Pilgrim theology, climate theology, Sami church life, spiritual deepening, and theology regarding calling in the church and parish are prioritized areas. The position also includes following theological research.

The work includes:

• inspiring theological discussions in various contexts
• assisting the diocese's parishes and deaneries in their theological reflection
• supporting the bishop in the diocese's theological work
• working on, for example, remiss responses in matters of doctrine
• participating in various working groups and at events arranged by the diocese

The position includes the opportunity for 20 percent theological research for the Diocese of Härnösand.

Requirements

• You have a PhD in a subject suitable for the position.
• Experience in relevant research.
• Very good knowledge of the Swedish language, both spoken and written.

You are loyal to the values of the Church of Sweden, and membership in the Church of Sweden is required for the position.

Working hours/Workplace:

The position is a permanent full-time employment with placement at the diocesan chancery in Härnösand or at a workplace in Östersund. Main working hours are daytime, Monday to Friday, with the possibility of remote work up to two days a week. Travel for work may occur, sometimes with overnight stays. Employment start date according to agreement.
