Workplace Description
The Integrative Pancreatic Cancer Research (iPanCare) research group at the Department of Translational Medicine, Faculty of Medicine, Lund University, conducts research on precision diagnostics and precision medicine for pancreatic cancer. The group is led by Assistant Professor Dr. Qiaoli Wang, as part of SciLifeLab and the Wallenberg Programme for Data-Driven Life Sciences (DDLS). Group members will be affiliated with the national programs within SciLifeLab and DDLS, as well as the Wallenberg Centre for Molecular Medicine at Lund University. Participation in national courses, various research activities, and retreats offered within these programs will promote the group members' national networks and interdisciplinary collaborations. By working in a young team, group members will receive direct supervision from the research leader as well as freedom to explore exciting projects within the research area.

Duties and Responsibilities
The main duty of a doctoral student is to pursue their doctoral education; therefore, you will be both admitted as a student and employed at Lund University. For complete duties and responsibilities, see Lund University's website.
Qualifications
Basic eligibility for higher education at the doctoral level is held by those who have
• completed an advanced level degree
• fulfilled course requirements of at least 240 higher education credits, of which at least 60 higher education credits at advanced level, or
• in some other way, within or outside the country, acquired substantially equivalent knowledge.
The requirements for special eligibility are met by those who have
• at least 60 higher education credits within the subject area for higher education at the doctoral level
• applicants must have knowledge equivalent to at least a 3-year high school competency in English.
• for students with non-Nordic degrees to be admitted to higher education at the doctoral level at the faculty, English language skills equivalent to a passing TOEFL or IELTS test are required.
Special requirements for the position
• Master's degree in epidemiology, biostatistics, public health, or a related field
• Good knowledge of epidemiology and statistics
• Strong analytical and mathematical skills in working with large-scale datasets
• Experience in research within cancer epidemiology or molecular epidemiology
• Ability to work independently, be self-motivated, initiative-taking, creative, and collaborative, as well as having endurance, stability, a structured approach to work, and a solution-oriented attitude
• Very good presentation skills and scientific writing ability
Qualifications that are meritorious for the position include:
• Practical experience with cohort analysis, predictive modeling, or machine learning
• Good knowledge of pancreatic cancer epidemiology
• Good skills in R or SAS
• Good publication record
Preference is given to applicants who graduated no more than three years before the last application date.

Conditions
Fixed-term employment for four years according to HF Chapter 5, Section 7.
The employment is a fixed-term position totaling four years, 100%, with a preliminary start date of July 1, 2026, or as agreed. The main rule is that employment at Lund University is conducted in Sweden; therefore, you are expected to be able to perform your work on-site in Malmö.
