Adapted primary school is a form of education for students with intellectual disabilities where instruction is tailored to each student's needs, prerequisites, and development. The goal is to provide a safe, structured, and inclusive learning environment that promotes knowledge development, independence, and participation in society.

At Hultsbergsskolan, we work from a grades F–9 perspective, which includes adapted primary school. In adapted primary school, we have students in grades 1-6. Job Responsibilities

As a teaching assistant in adapted primary school, you have a varied and meaningful role where you make a significant difference in the students' daily lives. You provide pedagogical and social support during the school day – in the classroom, during breaks, during transfers, and in other contexts where your presence creates safety and structure. An important part of the role is also to meet the students' care needs, which may involve physically demanding tasks such as heavy lifting. The work environment may also include loud noises and situations that require calmness, flexibility, and professional interaction.

You support one or more students in both instruction, communication, and social interaction, and collaborate closely with teachers and other staff to create a safe, accessible, and stimulating learning environment based on each student's individual needs. The position also includes work in the leisure center, where you contribute to a meaningful and developmental activity after the end of the school day.

Qualifications

We are looking for you who are a trained teaching assistant or have experience that the employer assesses as equivalent.

As a person, you easily create safety and good relationships with both students and colleagues, and you are used to working both independently and in a team. You are flexible and can quickly switch between different tasks – for example, from supporting a single student with special needs to leading an activity for a whole group of students. You are attuned to the students' daily mood and needs, and can adapt your interaction accordingly. Your communication skills allow you to clearly explain tasks, calm down in stressful situations, and collaborate effectively with both colleagues and guardians.

The work can sometimes be both physically and mentally demanding, and it is important that you have the ability to maintain calm, create structure, and build trusting relationships. At the same time, you get the opportunity to make a real difference in the students' daily lives – a role that is both challenging and rewarding.
