Do you want to help develop an art gallery where contemporary art meets people of all ages? We are now looking for a coordinating art educator for our educational activities at Helsingborg Art Gallery, Dunker Culture House. The position is a full-time fixed-term appointment from August 2026 to June 2027.

About the workplace

The administration's public activities include Helsingborg Library, Helsingborg Museum, Helsingborg School of Music and Arts, Helsingborg Art Gallery, and Dunker stages. Together, they are supported by shared staff functions for communications, administration, finance, and HR.

Helsingborg Art Gallery is part of Dunker Culture House in central Helsingborg, where contemporary art meets a broad audience in a vibrant cultural environment. The educational activities take place, among other places, in the two newly built studios with their associated exhibition hall, as well as in the art gallery itself. Here, we meet an audience of all ages, from preschool children to adults.

Job Responsibilities

As the coordinator for the educational activities, you are responsible for planning and developing the gallery's educational work together with two employed art educators and hourly-paid colleagues. You have overall responsibility for the structure and coordination of the activities, while also being actively involved in public-facing work.

The work requires flexibility, and some working hours are scheduled for evenings and every third weekend.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

• planning and coordinating educational activities
• managing the budget and some scheduling
• coordinating and communicating with hourly-paid educators
• participating in extended management meetings
• initiating internal and external collaborations and participating in relevant networks
• writing target-group-specific texts for exhibitions and public programs
• working operationally with workshops for participants of all ages, from preschool children to adults.

In the role of coordinating art educator, you work on developing and implementing school programs, guided tours, workshops, and public activities. You also help develop the gallery's open studio and work creatively with formats such as audio guides and participant-driven projects. You initiate collaborations and projects that can lead to exhibitions with children and young people.

With us, you will play a central role in creating meaningful encounters between art and the public. We are looking for someone who enjoys working practically in the activities and who likes to coordinate, develop, and drive processes forward.

Qualifications

The following qualifications are required for the position:

• academic degree in art history, art education, or an artistic university education, or other education deemed equivalent by the employer
• documented experience in art educational work with different target groups, from preschool age to adults.
• experience in project management and/or team leadership
• strong administrative skills
• good knowledge of and familiarity with contemporary art
• excellent ability to express yourself in Swedish, both orally and in writing, as well as good knowledge of English
